My car died on me sunday and wont start
The car is turning over but wont start and is killing my battery from trying
We tried towing it to jump start it in second but that didnt work
Im getting starter motor code (starters been bad for a while)but always started
Even if my starter is gone should it have started on a tow?(im getin one from froggy)

Took out the fuel pump last night with scoobycolm as he had the original fuel pump
from his impreza but mine is bigger so couldnt try it.
Was feck all fuel in the line when we disconnedcted the fuel line from the pump
i thought there should have been loads?

Just thought id see if anybody thinks it might be the fuel pump be4 i buy one?
If so wheres the best place to get one?buy new or second hand?

Cheers
Billy

Re: Car wont start

Sounds like the pump alright had a similar problem with my rs before, just remember to change the fuel filter too

Re: Car wont start

Sounds like the fuel pump have you an alarm or immobiliser with fuel cut fitted  :dontknow:

Re: Car wont start

you need to determine if you have spark and fuel........if its turning over and running down the battery, then its not the starter!!!
try and avoid tow starting the car mate....not a good idea!!!

Re: Car wont start

as mark said billy

its not your starter if shes turning over, get a second hand pump, as thats what it sound like.

Re: Car wont start

Thanks lads thats what i wanted to hear rather do the pump than take off the intercooler again

Scoobysub i havnt a clue if it has fuel cut has a laserline alarm and clifford blackjax but thats all i know about no paperwork about the alarm when i bought the car 5 years ago
anyway of knowing?

Only realised when i went on the net that it wasnt good to tow it.another lesson learned.

Re: Car wont start

i don't know to be honest i'm no good with car electrics . fuel pump seem to be the general consciences so id try that first and go from there

Well lads its been a long time but finally Back on the road poxy corroded immobiliser wire buried behind all the looms
Colm got a lad he works with to come over this evening and he got it started in 10 mins (first time in over 3 months)tracked the wires from the fuel pump up to the dash and found the wire all green corrosion at the connection point cut it out rewired it and fuel pump fired up.
The lad knows his stuff i have spent weeks tracing wires and never came across this wire he sorted it in less than an hour and was a sound chap.
I could feel the smile on my face as it started and the sound was music to my ears
Just drove it 4 over an hour and its flying.
So now im gona wash it do my brakes, bit of rust on rear arch sort out airbag light and get it nct'd
Oh happy days :multijump: :subaru:

Massive thanks to colm
