Cars Seized in Cork

Keep everything up to date and theres not much they can do really. With regards notifying your insurance of mods, a lot of the time it doesn't even affect the price of your policy unless you've gone balls out on it so your better off declaring everything to them anyway IMO.

Thats the problem though a lot of insurance companies dont insure mods, I think quinn direct are the only ones to insure mods :ponder:.

when you get insurance they always say that it cant be modded and that its a standard car..

wonder how one would fair out with wrx prodrive upgrade... so i wouldnt know any wiser and nothing there for them to see under the hood for them to say otherwise.

anyways my car is WRX :icon_biggrin:

they could ask about the bov thats about everything looks standard under the hood.

I'm insured with Zurich and the few mods I have done i've declared with them and they were actually happy that I had done. As I said if you've gone all out modding a car it will probably be a different story.

I wonder how much money they are investing in this clamp down!
Less lads would die on the road if the government gave an annual grant towards tyres so lads don't drive around with bald tyres,
Also, heavily subsidise driving lessons and car control courses!
That way they would be so much less likely to crash in the first place!

Sorry for goin off topic but was beside a hyundai accent yesterday at traffic lights and the front tyres were like slicks :shock2:

Slightly off topic, but what we need are dedicated insurance companies who deal with modified cars on a daily basis like they have in the UK.

they tried to do that last year and it was rooted out.. wankers..

you'd need some money to start somthing like that.

i had a fella come into the garage today , he was pulled by the guards in his 00 corsa which had lowering springs fitted ,they contacted his insurance and the insurance has suspended his policy until he shows an engineers report showing it has the proper opel spec springs fitted .

just lets say they were going to test your car for bhp, could you not fook around with the vaccum lines so its not boosting right :dontknow:

how could you if they take your car off ya for some reason. i'd say if they were going to test the power off a car, they driving it away on the spot and leaving you to walk home LOL

They are not aloud to drive your car as far as I know!
I thought the insurance was ok as long as you had an engineers report to say it's up to safety standards! But I suppose it depends on the company :dontknow:
If you file off the EJ25 on the block, is there any other sign that it's a EJ25 instead of an EJ20??

would be interesting to see if you added up club members insurance fee's for the last say 2 years and subtracted all claims on the policies to see what profit or percentage profit the insurance companies make/lose on our cars. Maybe then we could get a better rate :dontknow:

I don`t know. It all seems to be getting out of hand to be honest. You could be stopped by a garda one day saying your fine then the next time your not. It seems to suit them depending on their mood.slightly off topic but I remember years back I had an all show and no go `96 seat ibiza,1lt. it had rally graphics all over it, a full powerflow duel twin exhaust(very loud) and a full WRC kit. it looked like it had more under the hood that it should in fairness. I was stopped a million times and never had any problems. Most of the guards were quite friendly and enquired about the car. But one night I was pulled over, for speeding apparently(1lt car, don`t think so!)by two officers and they interagated(guantanimo had nothing on them ) me about the car and they couldn`t believe it was a 1lt car :shock2:. You`d sware I was driving a ferrari! :cuckoo: They let me on my way but followed me for ages and could see them chatting like mad in my rearview mirror. When I had my wrx scooby I was never stopped except for a checkpoint and the guard told me to get rid of exhaust because the decibels were too loud. How the f@&k would he know what decibels it was putting out. Alot of robocops out there

cop can take ur car for any reason they want really as long as they willing to stand up in court with it.. Got 4 summons couple o years ago cos cop said my alloys were outside spec for car as they were huge and couldn drive on full lock which he drove ta prove. 17s on a 106gti. Went ta court with good solicitor and walked off laughing cos it was an import and came into this country with the wheels on and the vro office and nct both allowed them... I didn bother telling them that the wheels were not on car for either lol
