You could always check the plate on motor check if it does northern regs

I only heard recently that if you own a car in another eu member state for more than 1 year then you can VRT it for the admin charge of €70

Yeah its only 6 months with the UK I'm sure, need to be registered to an address

You also have to be able to proove that you where living there in that time...... ie. Bills, Pay slips from UK company etc.
I brought my last car down with me and ended up payin the VRT cause it was goina be such a frickin hassle
