hey lads,

my fookin head is wrecked dealing with eircom so i'm looking elsewhere for broadband....
perlico are no better either....useless tossers!!!
anyone got the above and find that its ok????
have no net for last 2 weeks and goin mad at home...just dont want to organise this and find that its as bad as clearwire or others!!!!
any comment appreciated!!!!

NTL are cable based, so speed wise they are far better than the wireless providers, clearwire and what not...

My sister has it and its really good. She got the hole package with broadband, digital tv and phone line.

Do you have a home phone as well mark? We got a package from BT and it was the cheapest around at the time... BB with Local, national and UK calls included for like €45 a month but could be cheaper now

I believe NTL are the worst customer service in the World, bar none!

Although in saying that my dad had their broadband for years (in tallaght where they had the fibre optic cables) and never had an issue with his connection so never needed to call them.

does that mean i have to plug the laptop in when i want to go online unlike eircom where i can sit on the throne while on the net???
think its 82 for the whole lot monthly where sky is 72 just for the tv...
:wall: :wall:

Exactly what Brian said, if you think Eircom are bad then your in for a shock with NTL, had a complete nightmare with them when i tried to disconnect from them. It took me about 2 months of sh*t from them to do it.

have heard they are akward coz my nextdoor neighboor has ntl !!!!
i abused some supervisor in eircom 2 weeks ago so i cant deal with them and they are being akward in opening the line for perlico so i cant use them either!!!
:icon_cry: :icon_cry:

ntl might not be as good in louth as dublin but as long as i have an isdc fix everyday...i'll live!!!

Whatever you do, dont go near Pure Telecom... Worst customer service ive ever experienced bar none. Had a nightmare with them last week

on their site there and doesnt seem that the fast broadband is available to 041 customers!!!

NTL are a nightmare to deal with, everything is ok until you have to call them when something goes wrong... I was waiting on the phone for 45minutes one day, then when the finally answered, she then hung up on me so had to wait another 40 mins this time just to get some muppet that didnt know what she was doing!! :angry1: :angry1:

A mate here in work cancelled his tv with them, sent them the letter and everything, and then the continued to bill him after they had disconnected him so he cancelled the direct debit at which poit they sent debt collectors around :angry1:

I wouldn't even consider dealing with them if i were you Mark

BT use your existing line Mark so if Eircom can offer a certain speed then BT can offer the same.

Thats the 24MB line you are looking at and unless you are downloading 10 films at once then you dont need it, they do supply Louth with the normal internet speeds though... 3MB is perfect for anything the normal homeowner would use, even 1MB is more than adequate... Thats what i had and it was never slow...

I use eircom 3mb, if u play online games like myself its the best package to get. The 8mb and higher are for people who down and up load alot.

main things things are your distance from the exchange and contention ratio, you could have a superfast 50mb connection but if you have a ratio of something stupid like 50:1 sharing with 50 other users which can slow things sown a lot. on on the broadband ultra with NTL and have a few issues but they have always sorted them for me quick enough, you will get dodgy tech support everywhere. depends on the mood of the operator on the day !!

I live in the middle of nowhere and i have 3 wireless broadband and no issues with speed-same as the eircom i used to have. 19.99 a month for unlimited access
