Clifford and Wireless Network

This might sound absolutely crazy but here goes....

Ive been having problems with my wireless network in the house for a few weeks now. So I got thinking what could have caused this. What have I done or changed that could have caused this. Things like other wireless things in the house that may be affecting it (cordless phone). Even asked the neighbour if they got any new wireless devices recently that could be affecting my signal.

Then it hit me....The wireless problem started exactly when I got my Clifford fitted to my Legacy.

Now, get this....if I turn off my Clifford I get a perfect wireless signal around the house. Turn the Clifford back on and the signal drops off. Is the alarm frequency some how affecting my wireless network signal?

Is that even possible?

If the clifford is on simillar frequency's as your Wifi then yes, it is highly unlikely though. Wifi, is 2.4GHz, I wouldn't imagine your car alarm would work on the same frequency. You could try changing the channel on your wireless router?

Give me a shout if you need a hand dude.

Stephen.

I was gonna suggest you turn off the proxy sensors on the clifford but stephens response sounds much more technical minded where mine is a guess so not sure now. Give it a go anyway :icon_biggrin:

I'll do a bit more experimenting Stephen and see what happens. Seems to be the only explanation at the moment.

Just log in to the control panel for the wireless router and change the channel, change it to either 1, 7 or 11 just once its not the same as it was.

This is so funny....Its definitely the Clifford. The second (and I mean the second) I turn my alarm off the pages load straight away.

Sounds like EMI (Electromagnetic Interference). Try switching the channels to either 1, 7 or 11 dude and let me know.

I can get you a better router with stronger antenna if you need it.

Stephen.

Crap, cant remember the log in password to my router.

What type of router is it and who's your provider? Normally its username: admin and password: admin or blank password.

Tried that, no good. I will have to see if I wrote it down somewhere. I dont want to go resetting it and setting up the network again :wall:

Lemme know how you get on :)

never had any problem with my eircom broadband and the clifford in my car parked at the front window!!!!
sounds a bit weird!!!

My last Clifford didnt cause this.

Its mad I know, but as soon as the alarm is turned off my wireless signal returns

Brian you could be right after all :)

Just talking to my boss there about EMI and a car alarm and the first thing he said does it have proximity sensors, he's pretty sure they work on 2.4GHz.

Give the channel change a go and that should sort it.
