Comercial road tax... pain in the FLANGE

Went in to tax the van today, and they wouldnt tax it, said i had to get form stamped and signed by cops. On the form it asks for an Income tax number, and what business/trade i am....
FFS wonder are all the Pikies answering all these questions :angry1: :angry1:

Some load of sh1te alright Ken, last time i had to tax the van i discovered i needed tax number so had to go to accountant for a letter also at the time the tax had lapsed so i needed to get the form and get it signed,
filled out the form but made a mistake on it so crossed it out,

then got it signed in the barracks and went into the tax office to get the disc only to be told that i'd need to get it signed again because of the mistake :angry1:
 
I got the thing signed and stamped but i dont know if they will tax it for me as i have no income tax number, just going to stick my pps number down.
Not sure what to do if that dont work :ponder:
 
I dont know, i never taxed online.. usually i am off the road for few months and need to bring forms in :)
 
i don't think you can tax a commercial online tommy as you need the pin number and with commercials they don't give you one but it might have changed :dontknow:
 
The form is only for taxing it for the first time as a new owner! If its yer van a long time I'd refuse to do it but if its yer first time taxing it then your pps number will do on it!

Also you can now tax a commercial online but only if they've the details of your current doe!
 
I was told to use the pps number myself by the guy at the help desk in the tax office. In fairness even the cop said it was a load of shite and was fine about signing it. Still a pain in the ring though. :new_2gunsfiring_v1:
 
a lad i work with got done for private tax on the van cause he was employed by company not self employed.

I may ask the brother how he is taxing his van so because he's got it on commercial and thought he may have been doing it online to keep it commercial rather than go private . Must be some way around it .
 
you cant tax commercial online as you have to produce DOE certificate when taxing it. i know the brother gets a " letter from his employer" to say he needs it for work and gets the form stamped by the cops and never had a problem. type up something yourself with headed paper. income tax and vat number and prsi number are all the same thing.

ur right cant do commercial on line. and there is the extra 6 euro to change the doe cert on top of the tax
 
Make it up Ken. Know plenty who have. And as john m said your pps no with ie in front of it is your vat no. Also a herd number can be used
