Other features and specifications remain the same as the Type UK donor vehicle.
The vehicle will be available in three colours : Spark Silver Metallic (40), Dark Grey Metallic (25), San Remo Red (10).
The vehicle has undergone extensive testing by ourselves, Cosworth, independent suspension specialists and our professional "tame racing driver". The culmination of these upgrades, enhancements and testing is the most potent and exclusive Impreza we will ever produce.
Top speed is restricted to 155mph in line with the standard STI, but this is not where the Cosworth's real talent lies : its forte is acceleration, handling and the ability to put down and make full use of its prodigious 400ps of power and 542Nm of torque . The result is a vehicle that will sprint from a standing start to 62mph in just 3.7 seconds , and the standing 1/4 mile in just 12.75 seconds @ 107mph . These are figures normally associated with more exotic vehicles from Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche costing many times the Cosworth's £49,995 price.
To give you an idea of its outright performance and stopping power : when tested at the famous Bruntingthorpe aerodrome test track it became one of only two vehicles to ever complete the 0-100-0 sprint 5 times down the length of the main straight. The only other vehicle to achieve such a feat is a Porsche 911 Turbo.
Design Concept and Aesthetics
The Cosworth is more than just about speed and performance - we have improved the ride, handling and steering feel but not at the expense of comfort or drivability. It has not been designed as a weekend trackday plaything rather, an ultra high-performance practical family car, more in line with an Audi RS4 or BMW M3 than stripped out, roll-caged track-car. The SI-Drive system is fully integrated into the upgraded ECU so the Cosworth will be as happy burbling around town in Intelligent mode as it is tearing up B-road tarmac in full-on Sport# mode. This is still a practical 5 door hatchback vehicle with room for 5 occupants (and two ISOFIX child seats) that can be used day-in-day-out.
We have aimed to enhance the aesthetics of the vehicle by making it distinctive and unique without turning it into a caricature of itself. There are no big wings, gold wheels or other ostentatious adornments - its appearance has been improved by the consistent use of colour and finish both inside and outside the vehicle. The result is a much more cohesive look and feel to the vehicle in line with its £50k price tag.
Inside the vehicle the standard STI seats have been reupholstered in a bespoke leather design with embroidered Cosworth logo in the seat backs. The steering wheel has been re-trimmed in matching two-tone leather with "racing band" at the top of the wheel. The original silver plastic finish has been replaced by a deep lustre piano black finish for a higher quality interior look.
To highlight the exclusivity of the vehicles, all 75 will be numbered on plaques signed by Cosworth's Chief Engineer - Techical Director, Bruce Wood in both the engine bay and driver's door sill. On the outside, the vehicle has been largely debadged to allow the new high quality Cosworth badges to stand out.
As part of the ownership package, your customer will be invited to tour the Cosworth factory, facilities and museum to see vehicles being rebuilt and tested.
The result of all this development, changes and enhancements is a truly unique vehicle. No other Impreza will look like it, sound like it or perform like it.
