Customs / VRT Problems

Morning all,
i brought my car in thru' Rosslare Xmas eve '04, customs booth empty but I did'nt look too hard for any of them. I did not take the the car to revenue until over 3 months later but they never mentioned having to pay any penalties, just had to produce a mind numbing amount of paperwork not to have to pay the vrt.

if you only have 24 hours to reg the car, how do dealers get away with having a yard full of imports for months?

They pay for dealers plates, think its a lump some depending on how many cars they have in the yard. They can also drive the cars for test drives and stuff using green plates they get...

i brought a calibra in from the uk a few years back , arrived home at 11pm.got phone call from local vrt office next morning at 10am saying if i wasnt to them that day they would impound the car.dont know how they got my phone number or how they knew i owned the car. also a friend of mine used to have the old 3.5 rovers (about 17 of them) all for spare parts, most cost him nothing but the custom boys arrived 1 day and cut the chassis on the 4 english reg ones he had .

Unfortunately the customs boys arent the nicest bunch and usually are out for the kill. I've been dodging them for a good while now but have had to park up my focus rs after they paid a visit to my house snooping around at my 2 rally cars. They looked at my cars and tols me that I would need to clear these in the next few days or else!!!! They also saw it fit to tell me that I must get the car up to their offices so that a true value of the car could be totted up.I never bothered to bring it up as there is hundreds of UK reg rally cars in this country so why should I have to fork out for VRT. But as for having it in your own private land they can do feck all... Just as long as they dont see you on full lock coming around a roundybout someday you should be fine ;)

Just on the same issue.. I wonder what would they charge to VRT a S12 Subaru Impreza WRC???? Must be worth in the region of €500,000

If it were gardai they couldn't come onto private property but customs are authorised to without a warrant, they just can't enter any buildings, so build an old wood shed and stick the motor in it.

a lad here has a audi Q7 on uk plates and and had a volvo jeep before that.
he has a reg company in the uk and the Q7 is in the company name or something like that.

so if i set up a company in the uk can i drive the 22B im going to buy and get away wih it????
not buying one but its a hypothetical Q.

with the english plates thing its as davelegacys list plus you must also be able to prove your six monthe resident in your uk address
