Hi All ,

Subaru diesel particle filter light flashing all the time.
Hand book recommends taking to dealer.

Any thoughts ?

Dave , not exactly an engineering solution .

Niall , thanks for the links. Souhan solution seems good.

I would say that's your cause, there's really no long trips so all the short trips are clogging up the dpf. Hopefully it can be saved by cleaning it, or refer to the first reply above from the main dealer :icon_sad:

Up date . Took car to dealer. They were unable to reset fault light. The reason given was the filter has ash in it above allowed limits and therefore cannot reset the fault. The fix they propose is to take the car back again , use a second car that does not have a fault connect the pressure sense lines from the good car to the pressure switch on the problem car to fool the ecu that a new dpf has been installed and then reset fault , then carry out regeneration and all will be well. They told me this was subaru procedure .
Also advised me that the car could go into limp mode at any time.

Seems like a bit of hassle but im glad it's getting sorted
without to much pain

I guess going forward you'll just have to make sure you take her
for a good blast at least once a week

My light came on several times and stayed on a few weeks ago so on the road to kerry 1 day I left her in 4th and drove it on ..... not a bother since !

In a moment of panic I rand a subaru dealer in cork to price a DPF new (a mate had a nightmare story with a peugeot). There 2k+ new :angry1:

In fairness to the guy I was chatting to in parts, he said that the hes never heard of the filter needing to be replaced, and that with a forced regen along with putting in a fluid they could fix cars that were very blocked (i cant remember the % he quoted).

I was only on the phone to Sohans this week and was quoted €900 to have DPF removed and a remap to give it another 28 hp.

Up date .
DPF removed and ecu reprogrammed by Souhan's Trim.
Dave b 's advice is so true.
Anyway job done.
Good service by Souhan.

Was the ecu reprogram just an DPF delete or a power remap and if not, with the DPF removed is there any noticeable difference in how the engine preforms ?

Cheers

Sorry about pics. Will put up a post removal pic in a couple of days.
The remap for dpf removal. Result a bit more power. Nothing to exciting.
600 euro. for dpf job.
