looking at changing to a second hand diesel subaru lots of horror stories out there but are they really that bad . crank shafts braking seem to be the biggest thing at around 100.000klm and all second hand one have that on them now . i know there are a few in the club but dont think there on here much . i see theres 2 2011 impreza diesel's for 16k which is not bad if there reliable

didn't daveleggy comment on this only recently - pretty sure he knows of (or worked on) a number of these that have sh1t themselves?

@brian was trying to find the post but couldn't

cheers dave  so across the subaru diesel range . will stick with petrol for another while then

Poor long term reliabilty records.

A short engine from subaru is e4800 alone.

So a rebuild up at 7k.

Second hand engines hold their value and are super hard found. Around 2k.

So put fitting and service work loke cam chain etc on top. Be 3-3.5k at moment second hand road

And same risk all over again.

Simpily not worth it imo.

Jeazus there you go so Subaru td no good what a pitty wonder what other makes are to avoid in td

ye there ok to drive but an engine that could let go at any time for no reason aint worth having
