one of the lads on DTDjust put this up.....
Just incase its the garage anyone here uses......

His post:::
I went up to Martin Tracy yesterday for a dyno run, after getting few bits done to my civic, anyway Dyno run was then aborted half way when Martin tells me that the car is running excessively lean, i was shocked as i tought my car is going very well and thats not possible, car stayed in 14`s all trought.
Still made good power but, he stopped in straight after vtec engaged.
After talking to my friend afterwards about it he tells me that hes bike broke down after him getting some fuel in Maxol in Sallins, which then made me think thats where i got the fuel from, very same fuel. Hes fuel was contaminated badly which caused his bike to break down.
Anyway today i drained my tank and i could not believe with my eyes what was in the tank, shocking it was like someone pissed in my tank, the color of the fuel was like an orange juice, not clean at all. I have the fuel sample in the clear bottle and when its settled looks like a jelly. I will put some pics up in few min for you to see this. just lets you show what kind of fuel we are getting here, and that was from maxol, so much from thier E5 fuel

thats when is settled

Dan uses that Maxol every day of the week for his Forester, has far as im aware he has never had any issues with the place.

its not an area i know well so not sure to be honest....
I just thought Id popst it up as a warning to anyone who knows the area and uses the place....

As i said its someone elses experience

He might use the one in Naas. Just after the roundablout. O r theres another one on the Dublin road near Tesco.

Thanks for the warning Hammie. Didnt think the garage in Sallins was Maxol(has changed owners recently i think).Might have been the one on the sallins rd just beside gaa ground.

:smokin:

dont know much about garages and that...... but is there not some sort of quality assurance (quality levels) a forecorte has to adhere to?

Like surely they cant get away with selling just any muck.....

Would that be normal if the tanks underground were low, and when the lorry goes to fill them the sh1t comes to the top, when you go to use the pump that all them bits of dirt will go into the fuel tank of the car, thats what i heard from a neighbour of mine :ponder:

Afaik theres water sitting in the bottom of the tanks so the
crap falls to the bottom as the fuel sits on top.

so the crap can only go into the car fuel tank , if the tanks are low?

i was working in salins for 3 years and used that maxol garage every week for petrol and diesel and never had a problem but finished up there 6 months ago so maybe it has changed owners since then :dont know:

Ye they have a cut off when its just at the water level but it dosent always
cut off in time that way you get water in your fuel and probably crap also.

Thanks for the info

well lads,im a manager in a petrol station, and our pumps cutt off when the tanks have only 500 litres of fuel left in them, but some of these pumps get air locked and have to be bled..but it could be possible that if that petrol station ran out of fuel but the pumps didint cut off after it went down to a certain level, its more than likely that all the sh1te could be draged up through to the pumps..

So apart from clogging up your injectors and fuel pipes
can dirty fuel like the pics above cause any other lasting problems?

Is there anything we can do about it? ie. put a filter into the filler tube of the tank etc....

Filtering the fuel as it goes in will be a ballache.... I'd suggest changing your Fuel Filter regularly... say every 6 months... the filter should catch everything before it goes into the Injection system.... but if it becomes clogged or starts breaking down then all that crap starts flowing into your engine...

Also when you have changed the filter... split her open to see what sort of crap is in it!

What fuel are you using??? Try using different stations over a long period... i.e. change the filter and use your regular fill up point... change filter again in 4/6 months and use different garage and see if that makes a difference in the filter.... remember you willalso be pulling crap out from the tank that has been there from day 1...

lads check the maxol website for stations to be sure your getting e5 .just because it says maxol on the canopy doesn't mean it's e5 in the tanks most of these garages are on contracts with suppliers but once the contract is up there free to shop around for the cheapest price regardless of what's on the canopy. I work for emo and we deliver to lot of garages that are'nt emo but have never done a maxol station so you didn't get your dodgy fuel of me!!!!!!!!
