DUBLIN motor tax offices are to close next week due to what is being described as a “significant backlog”.

Dublin City Council confirmed this morning that the motor tax offices in Smithfield, Ballymun and Clondalkin will be closed to the public from 11-15 November.

“This closure is to accommodate the significant backlog of non use declarations, motor tax applications and driving licence applications as a result of legislative changes introduced from 30th September, 2013,” DCC said in a statement.

“Please note that from Tuesday, 29th October, 2013, applications for learner permits, driving licences and driver licence renewals can no longer be made through the Motor Tax Offices.

“Dublin City Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause,” it added.

“Customers can continue to pay motor tax at our offices in Smithfield, Dublin 1, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 and Ballymun, Dublin 11 or online at www.motortax.ie”

The uk system where you can buy a tax disc in a post office should be here. A lot easier.
