Sorry lads, but only for Quinn direct we woild still be paying thousands for insurance, my first truck cost me 5k and one other company other than Quinn quoted me 14k and quinn was 8 Grand for Insurance- That's some difference. A lot of you lads with vans etc. hand't a hope of insurance untill Quinn arrived on the scene. Most Big companies are insured by quinn, think of 5500 jobs going in this Day and age also- with no chance of employment in these areas at other companys!
Also for the Truck disruption, at least the are making some sort of stand- not just bending over and taking it up the arse from the government. With the carbon tax round the corner and premiums going to increase if quinn goes under it will be near on impossibe to run a truck and earn a living in this country.
So I support them 100% Quinn and the Hauliers

dont get me wrong fella!!! Quinn have done alot for the insurance industry in this country!!! I will admit i was wrong with my previous statement and congradulate the truck drivers for their behaviour!!! They got their point accross in the best way possible... Slow convoy in a single lane NOT disrupting the rest of the traffic as much as possible. They held back on leaving Naas this morning because of the accident on the N7 Inbound at Kill to avoid unnecessary delays to the traffic aswell! That deserves a round of applause in my opinion. What annoyed me was the 08.30 scheduled time to leave naas. We all know how bad traffic can be at newlands cross and a slow moving convoy would have just compounded this problem further......... I should have said in my origional post that a set off time of 09.30 - 10.00 am would still get their point accross without inconveniencing members of the public that are just trying to get to work......

Hope I have explained what i meant more clearly now instead of just a badly put together blunt reply
Should really stop myself and make myself think before replying some times!

(oh and I stand by my abuse at quinn cause they owe me money and have refused point blankly to pay it back, its an ongoing legal issue)

I'm all for sticking one up to cowen the chimp and the rest of his dopey mates but how is the protest this morning affecting the government in this situation? Quinn failed to meet ther financial needs and obligations and were therefore put into administration by the financial regulator like they should have been because they didnt meet the necessary criteria to trade... Only people to blame for this is the Quinn management..

I'm all for making a stand but at least direct it where its deserved...

Some very valid points there lads but if you crash your truck into a school
bus .................would Quinn actually be able to pay out on the claims of 52
school children . TBH i don't think so and i also believe if the country wasn't in such sh*t
the regulator would of closed them down !!!!................( Cheap insurance that can't payout , Not Worth It )

As for truck drivers / farmers / unmarried mothers ...........................

It's not our fault if the government / insurance industry / Durex ,tugboated you over

ie. don't block me on my way to work, i can't solve your problem . Block the TD's , Block the Regulators .

Im all for action but it must be directed at those that caused the problem ...............not the public !!!!

Here Here!! We've enough f**king sh1t to be dealing with without poor, skint, joe soap having to sit in hours of traffic...

Niallyboy for Taoiseach

If they want to protest about Quinn Direct going into administration they should protest outside Sean Quinn's house!!

its a sad day if 5500 jobs go in this country regardless if the quinn is at fault,id say that most of the trucks there today are supporting his company,as if he goes there f..ked for insurance, and only people in the haulage game know how bad it is,something as small as insurance prices going up,will send a lot of small and family haulage companys to the wall, every second person i meet are feed up with the state of the country, and when truck drivers try to make a stand there branded as thicks, fair play to them, pity they didnt send the 250 trucks into the city and block the hole kip up... :icon_biggrin:

Lads I totally agree that something needs to be done about the Quinn situation but I honestly dont think this protest will do much good. And yes I do understand where the truck drivers are coming from as I have grown up with them all my life and our family uses Quinn for the Haulage insurance. But this is just another topic that will divide everyones opinion as those fcukers in the Dail want to. If they keep us all fighting among ourselves it will take all the pressure off them. To be honest they are not going to let Quinn go under the same as they were never going to let the banks go under, but if we all argue amongst ourselves for long enough they will get away scott free again. If anything is to be done the whole country needs to go on protest if anything is going to get the current goverment out. Can the other parties be any worse in charge??? Just my two pence worth.

Also I know fcuk all about politics but def wont be voting for the current ruling parties in any up coming elections.

:lolpoint: :lolpoint: :lolpoint:

I think we all agree the truckers are right , just a little miss guided .
ie. drive yer trucks through Dail Eireann , block em in , hold them for ransom .
Just don't prevent me from doing my JOB !!!

Anyhow,

Here's a sample of why this country is fucked

Oh and by the way, the only VOTE FOR THE NEXT ELECTION ,
is to vote INDEPENDENT .....................Go on the Kingdom :multijump: :multijump:

Stupid statement regarding unmarried mothers, so she loves
a guy, they have kids all is going well, then he becomes an abusive
cnut, she has enough but has kids to look after, every week its i need
new shoes or theres a school trip coming up, or the school disco,
there are genuine cases were women are living on there knees,
they dont drink or smoke but they still struggle, think into things first
as im sure there is plenty of farmers in the same position, i think you
might just have a thing against quinn so take your advise above and direct it at them Nial,
ps sorry dude just had to get that off my chest,
