Dyno'd the car today.

deco c

Middle Lane Hogs
Well lads had a bit of time to spare so decided to throw the car on the dyno today..

I dont want to open up a big debate here lol but il throw up my spec and the figures i got..My car has been road mapped so i know conditions are different on the dyno and every dyno is different and alot of people say road mapping is the best way to go etc etc that dyno means fook all..

Anyway heres my car and spec..

Sti Type R version 5

full 3" turbo back Zero Sports exhaust with 3" s/s Bellmouth Decat/Downpipe

Ported Exhaust Manifold & up pipe

Walbro 255lph uprated fuel pump

ITG Panel filter

Ecutek Remap 1.5bar on E5

The results are as follows.

272.9 BHP @ Fly

346.0 NM Torque..

So any opinions on the results..Should i see more? Is it because the car was road mapped?

As said above im not giving out or trying to get a big debate going..Im just curious

were did you roll here deco?
how many klm on the engine/car?
and what exhaust manifold is it?
do you know the torque in ftp?

my car exactly the same as yours, same spec made 307 bhp running 1.3 bar on 95 plus booster.

imo you should see more power for defo, a decat and 0.6 bar of boost up on standard should get you more but you could have problems somewere, are you loosing boost on your print out.

i know of one car that made more power by droping the boost pressure from 1.5 to 1.3.

Got her done in westward..

theres 163000kms on the car but the engine was rebuilt @ 145000kms approx

Its the standard mani as far as i know.

346 NM is about 254 ftp..

Martin said the same about the boost..Actually said it would probably see more power on standard boost..Reckons 1.5 could be a bit high for my turbo as it could be generating too much heat..Also said shes detonating a tad and said the car must have been road mapped..He knew without me telling him..

The car was serviced only weeks ago..I think there was NGK plugs in it buy now denso and an ITG panel filter over the standard one so i dont know if that would make a difference..

Im upgrading to a VF48 soon..He strongly recomended a front mount to go with it..

our scooby will be up with martin on the 18th of june with dtdirl, im really looking forward to it as never had the car on a dyno. your figures are definitely a bit low for the spec. id expect around the 300bhp mark at the fly. the vf48 should make a nice difference.

not been bad lad but thats very bad result would of taut with that list of mods would of been easily over the 300mark

as said above i think it should have made more than that there the same figures i got in november on standard boost and nowhere near as much stuff done

Dont worry lads I put up the results so i could get honest feedback so dont hold back..I know the figures are low..Ive seen standard ones make more myself.

yeah but how does it feel to drive ???

It feels quick to be honest..Its my third scooby..A version 6 sti saloon and a wagon and it feels quicker than both but that could be down to the gearing in the type r..

It defo feels quicker than the figures suggest but that could be just me..

I know how it feels is the main thing and once it fells quick thats more important than the results..To be honest i was more worried when martin said it was detonating a touch

Aren't the rollers at Westwood fairly conservative? I seen cars without any changes make extra on other rollers...not saying his figures are wrong..but rollers can vary a lot

i would say they are realistic a car with 272 bhp is a quick car most dyno,s are very far out with there readings i had a standard wrx classic with an exhaust and a boost controller and a dyno told me it was 297 bhp !!!so i personally would not take figures as gospel ,if the car feels quick it is quick imo

If you had of got a result of 300bhp would you have been happy???
it would be easy to pick up or loose 15hp from rr to rr... your still running standard turbo aswell.
Westwards rr is known to be lower than anywhere else, maybe more realistic, Martin will tell you that himself i would think..
You could well be only getting det on the rr and none in real life use, what map sensor are you using as i thought standard was only able for 1.4???

Yeah thats true Ken..If he had of said 300 id of bein happy..The car does feel very lively to be honest and ive had 3 imprezas an evo 6,M3 etc etc so i have something to compare too..
I would imagine its the standard map sensor..Shes mapped to max at 1.5 bar and drop off t0 1.4 ish..

As i said before im not giving out or moaning at all..I just though id post up the result out of interest..I can wait to get the VF48 on to feel the diffrerence..
Martin said a front mount would be wise to go with the turbo but from what ive heard the standard top mount is good for 330 anyway??

The standard tmic will be good enough when car is travelling, problems with all tmic is heat soak, so likes of being stuck in traffic etc etc and the gun'n it is never a good plan... Fmic are the safer set up, You might not have got det on the rollers with fmic.. if that makes any sense,

I wouldnt worry about the figures mate, you probably would have 300, 300+ on another rr..

Yeah i was thinking that seen as it was road mapped it would obviously behave differently on the dyno under different conditions

They try to replicate real life in a rr but its never the same or as good,
which would you rather, run flat out on a threadmill with a fan blowing in your face or going outside for a run with some fresh air

Id rather not run at alll cause im a lazy bastid lol

Figures do seem quite low.

My type R got 270bhp/270lbft on martins rolling road back in 2006 with just a walbro pump and Apexi power FC mapped for 95 octane. Still had cat in the exhaust too. 1.35BAR of boost.
