Petrolheads
Folks I have my B4 Mapped to run on Maxol E5 now at times I have a hassle to get to a Maxol petrol station so can I fill up at another petrol station and add octane booster and if so what octane booster and how much to bring up petrol to Maxol E5 Octane cheers

I THINK either 1/3 or half bottle of "decent" octane booster should see you right .

hmmmmmmmmm :ponder: :ponder: :ponder:

i would say not

most occy boosters are a load of tosh, trying to cash in on the Max Power generation,

for arguments sake, lets say your mapped to 99 RON as Maxol state it is, and you put in 95 RON fuel, so your down 4RON, or 40 points, is a way of looking at it

if you read the back of the occy boosters itll tell you what it increases by, usually in points, as it sounds better,

most say if you put in the recommended does it will increase a max of 6 points, or 0.6 of a RON

so to get it up to what you need, youll need about six and half doses, id say thats more than a bottle per tank,

not sure if i would like to run all that "booster" in one tank

i think my maths are right

could get costly, as how much is a bottle of Nitrous Formula (most say thats on OK one)? €15 a bottle?

i just plan all my journeys around a maxol garage

never pass a Maxol and not fill up, that way your always good

much like the aviation saying "Never pass up gas"

Just put €20 of regular unleaded into it to do you until you get to a maxol and don't drive it on. Det will only occur higher up the rev range under hard acceleration so you'll be fine putting a bit in and pottering around.

or just drive it handy on 95 and stay off boost or get it remapped to 95, you probably wouldn't notice the difference mapped on 95, the newer 32 bit denso ecu's are a lot smarter than older model subaru's and should be able to retard timing enough to handle any knock issues seen with using 95.

Thanks Lads but at the time I was thinking the map was for safety as apposed to more hp but you live and learn cheers.

hi john.

e5 being a higher ron rating would be used to allow more ignition advance and
used to acheive better results over 95ron.

why would you think it was related to safety?

dave

Well Dave at the time people said that the engine blow I had was down to a detination issue as the car was not mapped thats all, no big deal, now 110000 km later after your remap not a bother thank the Lord cheers.

Hi All.

Will a 2002 B4 legacy that has the upgraded (rev D) denso ECU, be able to run on the normal 95ron petrol
that is available in any garage, or will it only be able to run on the E5 from Maxol. ????
