E85 in my b4

Sunday Drivers
A mate of mine was driving my b4 and put E85 into it by mistake can i drive it or does it need to be drained.

If he filled it id say he would have to drain it out...dont think it would be good for the car on a full tank... :dunno:

Yeah I suggested that to him but wasn't sure - fairly easy job to syphon it out of the tank & then fill up with standard e5

sorry to ask a question on another thread but its kind of related i am thinking of switching to a legacy b4 and have seen 1 i am interested in i asked the salesman about it and he said it was an import from japan and it wasnt mapped for irish fuel yet would it be safe to drive it until it could be mapped ? thanks

Yeah id say if you filled it with 95+booster,or E5+booster you should be fine...

he filled it up and he started it and car is cutting in and out we tryed to syphon it but can get nothing out for some reason

I think there is a gadget in the fuel tank neck that does not allow you to syphon out petrol, you mite have to jack the car up and check around the fuel tank,i think there is a drain plug on the tank...?? :ponder:

Hi,

I'd say get out of your tank as much of e85 as possible (keep it somewhere, you can add it later to your petrol in smaller amounts, like let's say 5liters at one time) - the best if you can empty at least half of your tank. The best would be 3/4. Then fill it with normal 95RON (not e5) and it should be rather fine.
The problem with full tank of e85 is, that you will get too lean mixture in your engine, too much air (remember that ethanol contains oxygene).

It would be much worse if it was diesel ;)
