Emissions through the roof?

My wrx failed the n.c.t the other day on the emissions , anyone any idea what it could be!! was wondering if it is the cat not working?

low idle:
co: 5.57 vol%
hc: 0 ppm

high idle:
Lambda: 0.796
co: 8.82 vol%
hc: 257 ppm

also failed me on my tinted sunstrip!! didn think it cud fail on this

If your wipers overlap the sun strip when they are being used then they will fail you. :thumbsup:
 
And i tought mine were bad!! seems my low idle test was only at 430rpm( think it idles higher than that), also i found one of my coils breaking down, but don't think that would cause my emissions?

that could most defineately cause your problem tommy,
coil breaking down is a misfire,so unburnt fuel is entering ur exhaust causing high emissions
replace that coil

Well think i have a few spare coils in my shed!! could the cat still be fooked?
 
well lads she passed on the retest so happy days!!!put a cat in her, new coils and a set of denzo ik22 plugs in her and she flew through it!! may pop a bit of tax on her now, will be grand having the full windscreen , especially coming up to christmass!! guards be everywhere!!!
 
My car fail the NCT on emmissions also = l

low idle:760rpm
co: 1.30 vol%
hc: 0 ppm

high idle:2540rpm
Lambda: 0.822
co: 6.67 vol%
hc: 127 ppm


the guy knew there was no cat's in my exhaust but he still insisted there was something wrong with my car to get these emmissions?? ...he said maybe a sensor or something?? ... :dontknow:

i didnt think the coilovers or the uprated headlights and a fieu bits like that would pass ,and iv a fairly big tint banner on my windscreen i didnt think that would pass either ,so i just let it in to get my to-do list but it only failed on emmissions and my horn wasnt working :doh:

Have you an after market steering wheel? That could be the horn problem?
