Didn't I read somewhere that they were going to install these somewhere on a trial basis?  :ponder:

Sounds a bit like Clare then. I drove up to Gort, on the back roads, last night and the improvement in the road is very apparent as soon as you cross into Co. Galway!

Drivers are grand in galway anyway!

Well they seem to be better looked after than their counterparts in Clare anyway.

Mind you, the roads in Connemara used to be notorious - so much so that you used to see old wrecks being driven around there with stickers on them that said in shaky lettering (and in Irish) "Connemara roads did this to my car!" I remember the road was so bad, and I was in such a hurry, that I managed to put the (belt-driven) fan into the radiator of my old Alfa Romeo between Glinsk and Carna one time, back around 1980. Fortunately (out of necessity) Connemara mechanics were skilled in such delicate welding jobs and the rad got patched up the next day, but there wasn't a replacement fan to be got in the country, and I had to drive back to London without one!  :(
