Everyone is saying engine oil is good enough to lubricate new bearings when building an engine ,is this true?

Think the use of a mineral/cheaper oil is for the rings to bed in a bit more so than bearings .
You dont clock up 1k miles on the run in oil, around 3 or 400 miles and change it out.
For assembly i would use whatever oil you are planning on using, or just a good oil. Like to try give it good protection on first start up..
Every builder/ owner has different views on run in period and type of oil to use.. I think Millers say to run in on their run in oil only for 300 miles.

Cool man thanks , should have the short block built tonight :subaru: :653:

Have heard it said that to be safe mineral oil should be usedfor first 1000 - 1200 kilometres but should be changed every 400 kilometres and inspected for excessive amounts of filings / foreign mater
