€150 and wanna buy someting (Idea's Please)

I would take a Bee-r rev limiter.

Btw, how much are you planning to get the boost up to when using the controller?

You can usually up the boost on an Impreza to just under 1.1 bar depending on whether it is summer or winter. The ECU controls the fuelling and timing still so its perfectly safe. If you adjust the boost too high ie. just over 1.1 bar then the ecu will cut the fuel and you will get thrown forward in your seat the same as hitting the rev limiter. The first time this happens isn't nice but you will have to endure it a little bit when fine tuning the max allowable boost. A good flicker free boost gague such as the Lamco boost gague is essential to set it up easily.

The Dawes Device is the only one I know and have used and it is a well made reliable piece of equipment. I can't vouch for any other type of manual boost gague but I know Andy Forrest loves them and I never heard him mention any other manual boost gague other than the Dawes Device.

I wouldn't go upping the boost on a B4 without getting mapped.
Firstly how is it going to control the boost separately on each turbo?

Why don't you put the money towards a paint correction?

im a bit iffy of boost controlers of any kind, too easy to get carried away, and there is always the worry of frying a piston, setting something useing the Ecu fuel cut as a guide is not the safest imho, its your car and end of day is your choice...

On another note, the fact your on here asking, kind of suggests you dont need anything or really have something in mind.. why rush out and burn your 150 now?? keep saving on top of it and maybe something will come up you want :dontknow:

Ya, i aint in bad need of anything, Denis ferry Gave the Car a new bill of health a few months ago, and the car hasn't been driven since, So spent a bit getting a few big things done, timing belt etc...etc....
I have been in chat with a few mappers, so going to save my few pound and get walbro and map, no need for big power, just save me putting boost in with every tank. If i keep saving, i can look into different options.
Cheers for all the suggestions

The Dawes device is not an electronic boost controller so it doesn't interrupt the actual boost signal. The boost (from both turbos) is controlled by the ECU as is the fuelling and timing. Once you have it set that's there are no boost spikes. The device itself is far quicker acting than any electronic boost controller, that's why Andy Forrest loves them and lets face it he really knows his onions. It will only raise the boost by about 0.15 bar which is nothing but good for 12 - 15 bhp. Its not like you can just wind it up as far as you like as it feeds boost signal straight to the ECU which is programmed to handle slightly higher boost and fuelling to deal with boost spikes safely. Thats all you are taking advantage of. It is not a substitute for a remap but for 50 yo yos it is unbeatable.
