It's gas I had this conversation with a lad on monday in a Local Motor factors who maintains nct centers dont have equipment to measure decibel levels, ? I have loud cat back system on d type r and bought a bung for it, i stuck it in to be safe and watched the nct dude yesterday, he revved the car twice and that was it, emissions and decibel Level all in one?,

Yea bull sh*t how can they say 99 decible then say it's a visual retest

Dumb as fook

They were at least 5minutes reving the RS when it got tested

4 of them standing at the back to it as it popped and banged, had words with the tester and manger

Useless fooks

Here is the paranoid fellow again:
Its not about your safety, its about a revenue and if they can send you back for a retest the better. We as an entusiast are maintainig our cars beyond the standarts of nct cert and often we got rejected, but on another hand the amount of smelly smokey old diesel banger that get pass.
Edit: have you ever sitting on a traffic lights near a big truck on idle, most of the time sound is so loud that hit you in the gut

I think it's more engine noise from trucks and bus's
Is there a different db level for a truck in the doe test
I know the milltec on my yoke is louder the the bus I drive
But the noise from the running engine is massive when standing near it

well it passed now anyway, guy just looked at the exhaust and said if you dont tell i wont test it again hahaha

I cant get my head around this. First he is a strict bad guy. Then he visualy test db's. And at the end he is your best buddy since creche: why are you wasting my time you tick fook!?!?

Probably not the same bloke
No consistency is the problem lads just making it up as they go along

thats the thing, was the same lad, he litterally said i dont want to take out the machine, but I can see your noise is sorted. so fair enough i guess...

They don't do a noise test for a doe Keith just smoke same as nct

I'm lost here:ponder2:

if you have a big exhaust on your Subaru for a NCT test
you will be asked to return with a bong
The Tester will visually evaluate your Bong
and issue you a Road Worthiness Certificate
i can see why as a loud exhaust obviously makes a car unsafe especially if there is no bong fitted to the vehicle
Only in Ireland
