Well lads my consistent record of not passing an NCT first time ever has continued

Nothing major

Headlight alignment
reg plate numbers and letters are 2cm too short
and emissions (which are through the roof!)

Here is the test results

Mine Limits
low idle CO 12.17% 0.5% (WAY OVER!)
high idle lamda 0.734 0.97 - 1.03
high idle CO 10.2% 0.3% (WAY OVER)
high idle HC 249 parts per million 200 parts per million (DANERGOUSLY WAY OVER ACCORDING TO TESTER)

So the tester said the headlights are off a left hand drive car and are designed to be focused for the other side of the road. I did buy the black lights from America so that could be the cause of that problem. Would anybody be willing to swap headlights for a short while, just until I can get a retest?

I bought the reg plates in Halfords so they sold me illegal plates :icon_evil:

and finally the emissions....could the map of my Power FC give those readings? or could it be my walbro fuel pump over fuelling? or do I have a more serious problem?
Would putting my factory ECU back in sort the emissions?

thanks for the help folks.

reg plates only a small prob
someone will swap the lights i'm sure!!
wouldnt say 249ppm is way over!!!
would appear to be overfuelling....
traders would know best but a lambda probe would surely help!!!!
what sort of downpipe you using????

tester said it was overfuelling alright

factory downpipe with CAT

cat could be fooked andy!!!!
worth checkin before buying a lambda probe!!!

did you do any changes before the test or put any additives in the fuel???

nope didnt do a thing. It had 95 octane in it as that is what is mapped for. Just put her through and hoped for the best.

haha you might be right if they look well! but seriously let me know if you need them

presume your emissions are too high for diptaine to work?

yeah I dont think diptaine can rescue those figures !

If have this stuff to help with emissions, its a liquid that is designed to bring down your emissions alot. It will make your car very slugish while in the car but once it runs through it will be fine

both cats, downpipe and centre section sitting at home if you discover yours are faulty you're more than welcome to a loan of them

Hmmmm, I thought only the new age had two cats.

She passed emissions 2 years ago and Ive not done anything to the exhaust.

U can lend my headlights if u want mate, if u know how to swap them over. Ive a crack in the parking light though.

AndyC - the cat in downpipe will be enough if working - I just passed NCT on mine.
However you've been already offered a help - I don't know where do you live, but if in Dublin, I can also borrow you original downpipe and lambda for a test.

Sounds like they really went to town with your car.
Hope you get it sorted and through the NCT
