FAILED NCT

doubt the pump has anything to do with the problem....
pump will only provide the pressure to the rail...
would more likely be the ecu allowing the injectors to fuel longer or something along those lines!!!!!
still doesnt answer your problem mate!!!!

Im going to try putting the factory ECU back in and get the emissions checked again and see if that fixes that.

Does the Power FC show a lambda or air/fuel ratio? If so, what value does it give?
By my calculations a lambda of .734 would be an AFR of 10.8:1 which is very rich! Should be around 14.7:1.
And if that's just at high idle (around 2800rpm ish, is it?) then it would be extremely rich at full throttle.
If it's over fueling like that I think it would be a problem with the lambda sensor.

I wonder if the NCT equipment is calibrated correctly, because if the car is running that rich then I'd say you would notice it running a bit poor and the fuel economy would be really bad.
If it was me then I would have another emissions test done to confirm that the NCT readings are correct, and if they are, then I think it would be new lambda sensor time :icon_cry:
Now I'm definitely no expert! :hammerhead: So that's just my input :icon_blahblah: but I'm interested in mapping and stuff.
Good luck with it, and give us an update when you get sorted!

Nice one Joe. I will have a look through the Power FC and see if I can see anything with an airfuel ration figure.

"and finally the emissions....could the map of my Power FC give those readings? or could it be my walbro fuel pump over fuelling? or do I have a more serious problem?
Would putting my factory ECU back in sort the emissions?"

Anybody able to comment on the above?

No your power fc would not cause emission problems.. Unless wasn't mapped properly and running rich but your figures are very high so i would think lambda.

If you lambda sensor has failed car will run rich and wouldn't pass NCT. Have you noticed higher fuel consumption?

i had similiar readings when i had the power fc, factory ecu reduced it hugely but not enough so replaced the lambda aswell and it flew through

I have Dave yes. Noticed it about 3 weeks ago. She is drinking it down. I thought it was because I had to use 95 octane recently as Ive been using E5 for months.

happy enough your lambda has died.

only use genuine subaru........

cheap ones will fail again couple months

Hey Andy...

You can have my headlights on loan... no need to swap either as they are currently off the car and sitting in the boot since I stripped it for wide arch project.

Gis a shout if you need em!

Thanks Jamie, PM sent.

How much is a new Lamda Sensor? and will I have to go to a main stealer?

hi andy, i paid 310 euro inc delivery for mine off carroll and roche only the genuine ones work

310! oh dear....might have to raid my credit union "bugeye fund".

Mark check and see if there are 2 screws on the back of the lights. The ones i had on last car failed for same reason and little twist was able to correct.

Had the same problem with omissions.

Afraid to send this one in in case machine blows up when testing for omissions

:smokin:

The settings on the power FC will need to be reset at the low RPM, low load ranges which is what the NCT test checks... ie idle and then at 3000 rpm.

This can be sorted quite easily. You don't really need the lambda sensor if the power FC is set to run independant of the lambda sensor. We have gotten cars through the NCT with Power FC with the lambda sensor function switched off on the power FC.

andy i ordered one for my irish spec impreza on monday 231 +vat and then the 10% discount just waiting for it to come in

Got a lambda sensor today off Carroll and Roche. E281!

Ordered it yesterday and they had it today. They didnt seem bothered with the fact it was a jap import and helped me out straight away.

Amazing what a recession can do. Places will be trying a lot harder to get business etc. Happy days...

Well lads I replaced the lambda sensor and the emissions are still all over the place.

Now what?
