since i got my car back from the mechanic the other day the fans on the rad are on constantly, i turned on the ignition lights this morning to check it and the fans came on straight way...anyone know whats causing this to happen...cheers

What did your mechanic do? Did he work around the radiator?

May not have plugged back in the connector block for the fans? Not sure if that causes them to be on constant but worth a check.

if they werent connected ,then they wouldnt work at all !!!!
didnt you have a problem with filling the intercooler the day before yesterday???
:dontknow: :dontknow:

not so on my old starlet. There were two connector blocks. if one was out then fans couldnt tell what engine temp was so they stayed on constant as a safety measure

the intercooler fluid was just a bit low marko that was all  the mechanic changed the crank shaft pulley alright the other day so maybe he had to take off the fans or something to get at what ever he was doin :dontknow: ill check the connecter things in the morning so...cheers

right so i disconnected both fans today and had a look around for broken wires or anything out of the ordinary and checked the fuses aswell and the fans are still on constantly......ill have to take it to a pro during the week id say to get it checked out.....so do i take it to an auto electrician or back to the mechanic :dontknow:

Mark Murphy in the Woolen Mills in Douglas is an auto electrician and a mechanic. Ticks both your boxes. handy man with Subaru's too, which is nice.

had the car out with him last week getting a pulley changed....ill give him a buzz 2mw.....

fans are on separate relays, so doubt both stuck at the same time. check your self diagnostic conectors are not connected. after that check the a/c relay.

Water temp sensor behind/under alternator if disconnected or failed this would do it..

Or if very very little coolant..

could be the temp switch, but if you have fat hands like mine and cant get to it you'll try everything else first . the reason i say check the ac relay, is because it went on that car already and done the same thing. also check the wiring going into the temp plug.

checked all of the above today, they all seem to be okay to me but then again im no mechanic either :hammerhead:...ive it booked in for friday so ill keep ye posted....cheers lads

did you check the resistance across the terminals of the temp sensor by any chance
i wouldnt have a clue how to check it ciaran...im sick to death of poking around the engine over the last few days....ill just leave it for the mechanic to sort out....cheers

got the car sorted today, it was something to do with a broken wire somewhere...cheers for all the feedback lads  :subaru:
