Less than a week after the freak accident that killed Henry Surtees.

Looks like a spring from the Brawn car of Barichello struck Massas helmet in Q2 qualifying, knocking him out.

Sky Sports News latest is that he's in a critical but stable condition following surgery.

Prayers for Felipe.

just saw the accident on the news...looks rough!insane how u dont see a big accident in ages & then BAM! Two in a week...

Couldn't believe it :icon_cry:
Two million-to-one accidents in one week.

Been checking Autosport every few hours waiting for official news to filter through. :icon_sad:
Get well soon Felipe!

That was scary looking.

I thought from the first showing of the replay, that it didnt look too bad and thought that the piece just clipped him and I couldnt understand how it put him out but then I watched the Slow-mo. Fcuk me it rattled him.
Hope he makes a speedy recovery

Where did the piece of spring come from?
[/quote]

Fell off barichello's car, they say its down to a bolt failure which caused the spring to come loose, but brawn are still investigating

somebody left a bolt loose i would guess but that will never be known to the public!!!
they reckon the spring weighs a kilo.. :shock2:
a kg on the face at 150 mph...dunno how massa is still alive and thats before a crash into the barrier!!!

Just heard there he will be kept in a coma for another 48hours.

Hopefully he will ok after this horrid accident and comes back to race sooner rather than later.

Was checking it lastnight night, apparently his condition isn't life threatening but his racing career may be over due to damage to his eye.

Very bizarre to have two freak accidents that close together.
