Ford Focus 1.4 2003

ford recomend 100,000k or 10 years for the belt, they tend to burn a bit of oil and can be known to eat wheel bearings. but i recomend them all day long, and i don't like fords as a rule. the only fear i have with them is the sparkplugs sometimes sieze in the head :angry1:

as above...
however i would change the timing belt at around 75 - 80 thou at the latest to be honest....
dont put bigger wheels on it and if ya have issues with wheel bearings going upgrade to heavy duty yokes...

again as a rule im not a ford fan (bar a few of the older models) but have been driving Focus's for the past 4 years and never had a major problem with them

they do have tendency to go through door locks as well ,so check if they have been changed ..

and is 2003 the newer looking model focus ...
if it is , check the boot seals are working by pouring water over the boot to see if any drips in to the boot area ...

woman in work had this problem on 2 of her brand new focus'( or is the plural of focus... focii)

regular failure of igition coil in that model.
not a big problem!!
as above...powerwashing the rocker cover is a no-no as the water will settle on the spark plug threads and rust up!!

My wife has had one for the last 3 years and the only issue was a key fob that needed to be replaced. 70k miles up on it now and no worries!

I actually enjoy driving it sometimes :icon_redface: :icon_redface:

Have worked on a few of them myself, have replaced loads of rear wheel bearings on them but they simple to replace -15 minute job and on about 20-25 euro to buy, very good car on juice. Timing belts are handy enough replaced but it's essential to use the locking kit on them.
