Hi all im new to all this so i hope im in the right place for all these questions.
Just got me a 1999 forester S Turbo auto with 90,000 miles on it. I want to rebuild the engine, im not going racing but want reliability and a few more horses (dont we all)
Im think of doing the following :- change the exhaust (not too noisy, magnatex???). Gettin rid of the cat (what about the NCT????).
Engine:- rebore & forged pistons, possible reground crank and balance(what bearings to use),an uprated oil pump, heads rebuilt at THE CYLINDER HEAD SHOP (any experiances any body????).A TDO4 or 5 (whats best for the road???) ECUTEK remap
Suspension :- 22mm STI anti roll bars (F&B) and a front strut brace.
I have to drive the car to work every day in the winter and several long trips each year (1300km each trip) so dont need rock hard suspension or a deafening exhaust.
Idears, comments and help
Thanks
Si

well this is the rite place for this,
1.as for the engine...well it depends on amount of money ya wana spend, everybody has there own ideas and which is the best...
2.Yep get rid of the cat...but keep it till you have you NCT,then put it on again for the test, after test put new exhaust on again... :D
3.id go for a TD05 18G TURBO,should be good for 330bhp with supporting mods...
4.ecutek re-map...well speak to the traders on ere and they will sort ya out there
5.i have whiteline 22 swaybars front and back and am well impressed by them,pro-parts do them...
6.as for exhaust the magnex is nice and quite till ya put the foot down, but not too noisy...
