Sunday Drivers
hey ya guys im after finding a lovely forester i currently drive an Audi A4 1.9 td 130bhp
i need a vehicle for pulling trailers so i was think about the forester
does anybody have any views on this it will be used to tow long distance e.g england with a caterham and car trailer
:subaru:

ya the audi handles it perfectly but im looking for a new vehicle and due to my love of subaru i would love to purchase one but im looking for a review on it first

dan will be along shortly he's our expert on foresters.is it petrol or satin's fuel(diesel) model your looking at.

ye 08  but it's the same model .hes looking for a new vehicle now would that be 09 new or new to him that's why i asked

The forester would be perfect for a caterham, but will drink juice!

Real nice machine for towing reasonably light yokes-loke Caterhams!!
I towed my Formula Sheane and a jetskji for a while with my WRX and it was a dream! Hardly notice it behind you
Forester would be even better- it has ratios more suited to towing and a more progressive rev range.
Plus, you can always get the Prodrive Performance pack for it if you get bored!!

I always loaded my Sheane rear to rear tho(rear engined), to keep the weight close to the car- speed gets very deceptive with the WRX, and you really dont wanna Fishtail!!!
That would be the opposite way with the caterham tho!
Good luck with the racing!
What series you entering??

The Forester is the best handling and best performing "jeepy looking thing" you can buy,
Because she's based on the impreza,
BUT she is a thirsty bitch! even the "mild" irish 177bhp one is thirsty So you my aswell go for a 2.5 230bhp irish one or the 240bhp pre 2003 2.0l (250bhp sti) or post 2003 220bhp 2.0l jap ones!
Of course there is the 2004 jap sti with 265bhp 2.5 (which I have) which you'd have running 340bhp with stage 1 mods, and about 22mpg at that!
BUT if you think about it, if you drove a 2.8 deisel pajero (26mpg) for a big slow bad handling lump! It doesn't make sence to worry about MPG!!!
I have owned most of the above, and literally the only bad point point, and the only thing that other cars will better them for is economy!
Regardless of which model you go for, must have mods are, White line or genuine subaru forester sti springs and a rear antiroll bar of any make and some negative front camber!
And then she'll handle better than most cars! (my only handling mods)
Have fun shopping and let us know what you find!

that price is a steal i paid €19000 for my 05 xt with 60,000k on the clock a year ago.........
would you not go for the turbo model tho

Hi Maesdavid,

I towed my TypeR up to STI Tunning with a Mitsubishi Pajero 2.8 ltr Deisel jeep
and i can tell you i got nowhere near 26mpg :shock2: :shock2:

My old fella has a Landrover, again very heavy on fuel

So I don't think the forester is going to be worse than any other jeep , plus you have the
bonus of also driving a fast car when your not towing .

For me it's a very good all rounder , safe to drop the kids to school, no prob towing medium loads, fast car
and with a few basic handling mods , great fun around the track too.

I hope i'm not going off topic, but i do have my dad's Land Cruiser quite a bit, And full tank get well over 1000kms, Whats that €100 fuel, 3.0 turbo D. I think there a great 4x4. Not too put you in 2 minds or anything just more options if economy is on your mind.

Would a cruiser really do that mileage per tank

would love to get one economy was putting me off

is that short/long wheel base
