thinking of buying a 01 wrx jap inport, its been in ireland for 12 months already is there anyway of telling if it has been remapped for irish fuel

no its in ireland for the last 12 months buying out of garage so cant speak to last owner just wondering is there any way of telling was it mapped for irish fuel alrerady

If its on the standard Subaru ECU Id say Its 99.9% that it has not been mapped. I dont think there has been anyone else in Southren Ireland doing Ecutek maps the last year so very unlikely. It could have a replacement ecu though. Check under the passanger footwell.

so if its not remapped what fuel do i need to use and do i need to put octane booster in, will it do any harm to run it on normal 95 without any additives

run Maxol E5 if you can its 99 octane and as close to jap fuel as you can get...I would bet on your car not being remapped it would be something the owner would definetley mention as a selling point..

As above, E5 or 95ron with lucas. But definately keep a remap in mind, not only for safety but the extra power ya get

as above i really doubt it has been...

i'd defo advise e5 plus A octane booster...

our prefered choice from results is NF octane ..

As above!
But A remap is a very worthwhile modification! especially when done with a good exhaust system and filter!
But you really should'nt change anything with out remapping as scoobies really don't like that!

thats great thanks for the help lads i will have a look around and see can i get it done does westward engineering in enfeild do remaps for scoobies does anybody know

Yeah i got mine mapped there but as i was told they preferr you to have a apexi power FC & commander for the job. Its well recommended a remapp for pure piece of mind, but all in all including the entire ecu and the remapp it cost me the guts of €1300!! Enjoy your subaru! ha ha

Mick if your going for a newage car there is no Power FC available for it. Ecutek is the norm. Depends on the budget really.
