fuel saving

Sunday Drivers
After buying my subaru impreza, standard 1.6 its starting to get expensive fuel wise
anyone have any fuel saving tips? eg servicing etc

if cheap to run is what ya want then really ya will be safer with a diesel engine....

Im not tryin to be smart or anything but the 1.6 was never that economical due to the lack of power and the weight of the car......
Maybe drivin below 3k revs. Break early and never and keep the heating off would help....

had a 1.6 and honestly can say i never drove a more fuel hungry car , Nick spec c had a classic sti at the time and he was gettin better mpg than me , took me half a thank to get from c&r to my house approx 40 miles away when i bought it :icon_hang:

straight 2 litre is far better , doin 600km to 50 euro so im happy enough

try drive a 2l turbo then you will see expensive to run
tell me about it  im bearly getting 170 miles to a full tank of juice.....
and thats driving it like an old granny....

ya the heavy body and smaller power really doesnt help.
had a 318 bmw and a 1.6 primera and they would eat petrol when you drive them on.
nothing worth doing that could be done im afraid, save to get a turbo and insurance.

Yeah what Tommy said :lolpoint:
I went to Skibbereen and back last Saturday on a tank and a half which left me surprised :smokin:

Were ya towing the car behind the transporter or what Nick

i went from 1.6 to an sti and thought petrol costs would skyrocket but its not much worse. granted the car gets driven one, maybe two days a week but i still tink its relatively decent on fuel for the driving it does get. averaging bout 400-450 kms to a tank.

There a thirsty oul thing if ur raggin it all d time but i gotta say the wagon isn't that bad. Its worth it getting to drive it everyday. :subaru:

Going from the wrx to the sti 2.5 only cost about 6 euro more on petrol not to bad tought it was going to be more thats driving in i mode havent put it into sports# much :icon_headbang:
