fuel

I know I drive a Irish car
but I have always said that apple green makes my car drive better and longer
now I see apple green have e5
anybody else using apple green
I find a Huge difference in it
car is more responsive on throttle and get more miles every time
is it because my car is mapped from factory for a lesser fuel or is it apple green fuel is better :ponder:
http://applegreen.ie/fuels

id say its probably a bit of both man fuel may be a bit better and your car is mapped for 98 in stead of 100 like japs

Been hearing this a lot lately about Apple Fuels. The only bad thing I can see is a few years down the line they'll most likely be dominating the Irish Fuel market and end up charging what they like when they've run out the competition. Don't hear of any other companies expanding the way they are at the moment.

mine is also an irish car Colm but Personally i wouldnt put apple green petrol in my Lawn mower for fear of blowing it up let alone go near the sti with it , its about as good as lighting a fart and expecting a performance gain from the car , its only 95 octane the same as any other petrol out there , my own car still has the "use 98 octane only" sticker on the petrol cap and maxol e5 is all that ever go's into it ,

also the diesel in apple is a bit on the unpredictable side , maybe its just the Arklow branch of apple but its shite anyway !

apple are doing e5, it ha it on the pumps in some places.

i never really got to drive the hawk daily but the misse had apple green beside her old job and would use in the hawk(uk spec) and she would feel the difference in the car and get better mpg.

i dont know were there getting there fuel but i have heard that 90% of fuel in this country is e5 and it will be 100% soon with laws, that the euro union want brought in.

dont know if the 'Prezas are 100 but the Legacys arnt! cant see Subaru having too different RON ratings for there cars!

infact id say the Lagacys would need higher RON rating as they have a different compression rating! 9.0:1 instead of the Imprezas 8.0:1! as the 9.0:1 is more prone to Det on lower ratings!

and the Leggys are 98 RON (i still use 100RON mind lol)

This debate has been done before.

I gave the applegreen e5 a go in my car & straight away the knocklink lit up like a Christmas tree when boost came on.

For reference my car was mapped for 95 & booster. I always use maxol e5 and never suffer with knock.

Lads, it's worth asking the dreaded question when you're at your local Maxol Station.

Know for a fact that both my local Maxol's (Sandyford & Ballinteer) are not selling E5 as it's just not competitive price wise for them.

One of the stations still has the E5 pumps but I have been reliably informed that they have not had E5 in their tanks for a long time.

I wouldn't be very surprised to find out the same thing for a lot of other Maxol stations.

According to their head office, all maxol stations in the republic are selling E5. Its an EU directive so they wouldn't be switching back now when they have to use 5% ethanol in the coming years anyway. Most people in the garages haven't got a clue what they're selling anyway so I wouldn't mind them if thats where you got your info.

Proof is in a knocklink I imagine

a lot of maxol garages are franchises so sell what ever crap they like and yes both ballinteer and sandyford sell crap,,my knock sensor goes mad with these 2,only half decent 1 is harolds x but still not great

Is that not illegal to advertise there products as Maxol and not supply a maxol product then , and i doubt Maxol would be advertising that ballinteer or sandyford are maxol service stations on their homepage if they werent selling maxol :ponder2:

I use balinteer now for over 2 years. I've used the others too and Naas
On the way to track days in mondello.
Never an issue with my engine.
Reminds me of the oil thread :icon_rolleyes:

Someone should get a sample of apple green tested. They don't seem to advertise it at 99 ron so i doubt it is. Plenty of mappers and mechanics have compared e5 to tesco 99

Filled up in Sandyford last week as I was stuck. All pumps are marked as regular unleaded bar one. I filled up at that pump and asked attendant if it was defiantly E5 and he said he couldn't be sure. I had to drive like granny for the week to use up tank out of fear that it was shite fuel. I generally fill up in Kilnamanagh which I've been guaranteed is E5. What bugs me is that pump in Sandyford is marked as E5 but the likelihood is it's pure piss.
