future legacy B4 owner

gsr owner

Sunday Drivers
Hi All.

I'm New to this site.
I currently own a 97 Lancer GSR 1.8 turbo, but am wanting to get a Legacy B4, I went to look at one
the other day and I Made an offer for the Car (my car + cash).
Its a 2002 Legacy B4 rsk in Black, Garage owner said it had never been driven yet in Ireland, though
He has it registered to his garage. I have spent the last week reading up on the pros and cons of buying a B4
(re-map, 104 ron fuel etc).
Does any of you know this car or, ever took it for a test drive or, viewed it.
Also will it definitely need to be mapped straight away, or will I get by for a while using maxol fuel and octane booster,
As I am a matature guy, and will not be driving it hard at all.
Also would It be in my interest to perhaps get one of the guys from this sight to take a look at the car before I buy it,
as I dont really know what to look out for.

Any advice welcome, Thanks

Motoright, had a look at that garage before, the owner is named Jim I think.

I agree with gretts, my steering wheel looks ten times better with 100 miles.

The cloth interior is pretty rotten! Id hold out for one with a leather interior and so on.....From what i remember, his prices are fairly high!!

Yeah His name is Jim, car looks very clean, very few marks on it, Havent had a test drive yet, He want 6500 and my 97 gsr for it.
Is this a lower spec model, because it has no leather etc .

He wants 6500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

:shock2: :shock2: :shock2:

Jesus, walk away!!!!! Im not too up on the spec level. But most ive seen have leather interior. If u from rathfarnahm area or abouts u can have a look at mine. Dont pay that!

With the greatest respect, you would want to be completely off your head to hand over €6,500 plus your GSR for a 2002 Legacy!!! :cuckoo: :cuckoo:

Even if the mileage was correct, the car would only be worth about half that amount without trading your GSR. I suspect the mileage is far from correct, as stated the steering wheel wear is extreme for the mileage and the gear knob looks to have similar wear. My old legacy steering wheel was in better condition with 3 times the mileage!!

Rubber on the brake pedal also appears to be worn through. Full cloth interior would put me off too. Picture of the driver's seat only shows just above where the main wear on the seat bolster would occur so that could be another sign of wear.

The "fresh in from japan" is bull as well, more likely its been laying up in a yard for the last 3/4 years since the recession hit and no1 was willing to give him the money for it. This may also be the reason for the discolouration on the wheel if its been sitting in the sun for years.

I wouldn't even bother going to look at it on the basis of price alone.

It has been sale for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. I remember seeing it on the net before i bought mine 11 months ago!!!!!

I had a look at it last Tuesday, as I said it looks in good nick, he has it for sale at least the last six
months, as I remember seeing it on carzone some months ago, it is stored inside a showroom/lockup.
He said it is a specimen, and you wont find one nicer anywhere in country, 6500 is price he wants, I was willing to pay
around the 5k mark and my gsr.
Any pictures of any for sale by anyone of this site.

Have to agree with the rest of the lads here 6500 is highway robbery without the ski mask.

There is plenty of super clean well looked after cars for sale her for proper money and will keep a good car in the club.

See if any of the lads are near you and have a test drive of there's as they super cars and really but the smile on the face.

Good hunting.

Mick

(Think we were talking before in johnstones)

6.5k my hole.... i payed less for mt 05 WRX, which came from member in here!

there are few b4 for sale here, which are a very nice solid cars and looked after members! I would better take one that is being used daily and is running, then the "import", which is overpriced and no history on how it performed on irish roads.

think you may have saved yourself alot of hard earned cash coming on here gsr owner , the cheek of yer man wanting 6.5k for that , as the lads said above it screams out that its been clocked with the gear knob and steering wheel been so well worn , 6.5k is newage impreza sti money at this stage ,

welcome along gsr . have to agree with the lads above 6.5k in today's market is madness, even if there was only 50k on the clock :icon_rolleyes: which i doubt and it was the cleanest in the country you be lucky to get between 4.5 and 5k with it being mint . 6.5k is madness sit tight and wait for something better

Ya would be mad ta buy that at that money ya might as well stick a grand or two in the mitsi glove box and then give it away to the first person that ya meet

Thanks for all the advice, I don't think I will be paying 6.5k for this now, will keep looking here, yeah
I am the lad that was in Johnstones the other day,I am from Donaghmede, I take it that I would
be mad to even go and take a test drive in this car, Thanks for the advice,
Anyone hear of a good Legacy for sale in the Dublin area, please let me know.
