Galway rally

@gc8 , Yeah i'm from b'sloe and was down at the podium as they were setting it up and had a perfect spot for shots of the cars coming over the ramp . Was lucky enough to just get cronin as he crossed over and then the crowd formed and it was impossible to get any good pics of donnelly and the rest :angry1:

Great pics there medic1. Do you have any pics of car 32 paddy kiernan, he won clas 13, the national and was the first mk2 escort home.

Well everyone here's a few pics from today, had to scale them down to make them fit but if anyone wants the original hi res copies let me know
There was a lucky escape for one of the marshals when a car went out of control and knocked him but unfortunately the orgainisers have asked me not to publicly display photo's till they investigate the matter

ok guys little about what did happen, driver is very very good friend of mine , has been rallying 6 yrs now, right here goes, their was a 3 bale chakane 200meters up the road before this square left il check the notes to see what it was later, their was a lot of muck on the road after it, he got the power down after the last bale and car started to fishtale, when he braked car started to slide and car was facing for the right, now he had 2 choices, let go and go straight on where he could see people were standing or he could go for ESCAPE road, he went for escape road where no one should ever be standing ever, at the time he was 2nd in his class and 8th overall in the national,

now the marshal did get up and give him the tumbs up to go, we also ware the hans device and anyone who knows what this is will know its for safety and its attached to ur helmet by a strap either side, to stop u getting a neck injury, when we on road sections we take of helmets now because if u come to a junction u cant turn ur head far enough to either side to see if theirs a car coming,
so to say he nearly backed out infront of next car is not fair , if you look before he does back out the marshel is already gone around the corner to wave him back also people in field are telling him to back out, all this did happen very fast and was totaly not his fault,
but the leasson to be taken from this is please stand in a safe place when rallying things happen very fast and when u least expect, last yr was a bad yr for rallying wit people been kiled from been in unsafe areas

sorry for the rant but our sport does not need anymore bad press
rusty
ps not aiming this at anyone i just answered back a post on another site and copy and pasted the same here had a great weekend myself was second in class all day and got a time penelty leaving service 45sec put me in 3rd in class and we finished 26th overall in the national
2 vids bellow for you guys first one we at 59sec

and second vid we at 2,05 been caught by fast escort

I for 1 have to say i have always been pissed of with marshalls "do as i say but not as i do" attitude. It goes to show
that just because your wearing a brightly coloured jacket does not mean cars will simply bounce off you.Nice vids Rusty.

Personally rusty having been at the corner and saw first hand what happened i would have to commend the driver as he tried his best to avoid the marshal and the fact the man was able to get up and give the driver the thumbs up is a testament to his driving ability, as u all know i work in the emergency services so i know only too well the outcome of person v car incidents. By the way am surprised you haven't asked for the pics of yourself on that corner going sideways, was great craic to watch

@ medic only getting myself back to normal today lol was in clayton till 6,30am Monday morning ya the marshal was lucky but hat of to him john was chatting to him yesterday and he could not have been more sorry for standing in box junction & wanted to pay for new windscreen in johns car, on another note can see the vid in question been used in training nights to high lite the importance of box junctions been kept clear at all times , as for the pics ya wouldent mind getting them of u please we were sideways a lot of the time on Sunday
