Garmin map updates

Anyone know where I can "acquire" Garmin map updates less than legally? My nuvi Is well out if date at this stage and can't be arsed paying the 100 odd quid for the update
 
There's some updates flyin around on some of the torrent sites

Haven't tried em out so don't know if they work or not tho
 
I tried one of the torrent ones for my Tom Tom and it wouldnt work at all it didnt pick up that it had any maps on it luckily id kept the old ones just in case
 
they seem to be fairly hit and miss

Doesn't make any sense to me why the updates have to be so expensive. I mean there nearly the same price as a bran new sat nav with new maps. :angry1:
