I saw a guy filling his Audi A8 4.2 Quattro this morning with LPG and it put me thinking about doing the impreza.I wonder are there any long term ill effects of a conversion. Its only 96 cents per litre a big saving to be made.

I considered it before and I may be wrong but if I recall there is a serious power drop and mpg is less with LPG so you use more litres for same mileage so with cost of conversion not a huge saving.
Ok if you are doing big mileage but on a performance car would be a complete waste of time due to power loss better off to change the car for something more economical.

Was chatting to one of the lads up North who had forester converted and reckoned he only lost about 5bhp.
Just copied map from ecu and used that for gas

Savings on fuel paid for itself within a year.

will try explain a bit.

power loss its not very big but it is some in some case you wont feel it. always you have option just press button and switch over petrol if you want push it hard and you feel power loss. as for example is drift cars in Ukraine running only on lpg with 450+ hp. a lot cars in europe runing on lpg even opel(of course not scooby) was doing dual fuel (petrol +lpg) cars from factory.

as somebody said less mpg with lpg. again do your calculations car might use up to 20% more lpg. so maths is mine using 12ltr per 100km petrol price is 1.58cents per litre so 100km cost me 18.96euro. in my friend garage lpg cost 0.81 cents per litre. so car will be using around 14.4 litres(might less) of lpg which cost 11.66. so every 100 km you save 7.3 euro. in period over the one year if you doing 20000km you will save 1460euro. of course you will need warm up a bit running on petrol so lets say would be doing 1300 euro savings which i would say not bad :)

about problems to run for long period with lpg. you need extra lubrication for Japanese cars and good lpg systems you wont have troubles.
new systems which are going into cars these days is total different which was going couple decades ago. they have lpg injector to each cilinder, ecu for lpg system which is has to be mapped. extra lubrication systems need inject very small amout( 1drop every 4second) of special oil. lubrication system needed as lpg is "dry" fuel compare to petrol.

if any more questions ask .
