hey guys just wondering if anyone has any advice on this i fitted a box in the car its out of a 04 wrx its leaking a bit of oil at the inner shaft seems to be coming from the seals on the end of the drives.the shafts on the box are out of a 98/99 legacy would they be the problem and replace with my original ones or would it just be as simple as changing the inner seal rings any help would be great cheers lads

Who advised you that gearbox would fit? Who fitted it & what did they say when you rang them?

Take it back to the people that attempted to fit it... They should stand by their work after such a short period of time... What gearing ratio is the new box? Do you know?

@marko i had to tap the seal rings back into place a bit as they were distorted a bit
@sti brian i asked dave about the box and he said if it was out of a 04 wrx box it should be fine
@sweetcakes i think its 3.9:1 like a uk spec box but not defo the new box code is ty754vn5aa whereas the original is ty754vn1aa

cheers lads

@ stevo if its the ones on the end of the shaft i think its jus a matter of popping the drives out from the box and tap them off the shaft if its the seals on the box im not too sure the only thing is there is a bit of a noise not sure if its coming from the box or got to do with the shafts

it would be very handy if you could take them off without taking the box off, that would be best case

Afaik, a uk box is usually 3.6:1... I know the uk 6 speed box is 3.6 and jdm 6 speed is 3.9... Is your car uk or a jdm import?
