Hey lads,

Just wondering if its possible to get a gear selector fixed? Or replaced if its cheap enough? I think its gone in mine, its very easy to grind first while trying to get third.

Thanks :)

Steve

Is the gear stick all floppy?
If so it sound like the tension spring on the linkage is gone and probably the bushings on the linkage too.
Think you have to replace the whole linkage joint to get 2 of the 4 bushings though

Yeah its a bit floppy alright (that sounds a bit weird lol). So would any mechanic be able to sort this out?

Cheers for the help Matt :)

and seein as we're on the topic, roughly how much to fix it??

Mine is on the way out too, from a standing start I sometimes have to let the clutch out and push it back in before it will go into first

There is 2 springs on linkage. 1 tensions as you pull stick toward driver, the other as you push toward passanger. If the stick centres itself from both positions then the springs are ok. Spring part number for Classic(S33022GA081) cost 1.20euro ex vat. Legacy part may be different.
Bushings are Approx 6euro each, there is 4 on the linkage but only 2 can be changed as i found without changing the linkage joint as its a rivited item. Not sure on price of joint, ill find out friday hopefully when up at subaru.
Probably an hour or so job depending, maybe more if joint changed, so cost of labour probably 50 euro an hour or there abouts
