Hello gents/ scholars and fellow Scooby followers , I m back after a long un scheduled break , my question is car has been lying up last 2 years unstarted battery removed and covered , finally have the finances to resurrect her , what should be my full checklist to do to get her roadworthy again . Bearing in mind she got 4 new shoes and full service 3 months before she was laid up. All advice greatly appreciated .

Whats the bets it will still be slipping :)
The question is not that exact, you have serviced it, it has good tyres etc etc.. so you may just get in and drive it and see.. if you start to see leaks fix them, if you hear knocks or bangs fix them.. and you will need to fix your clutch

Lmfao ken , knew clutch would still be slipping :) but where would you begin to get her road worthy again will oil be fooked etc , all new hose kit had went on engine as well just wondering what damage the lying there idle may have done and can anyone recommend any good mechanics that I would trust car with in the Wexford area

Thanks Dave , not quite there yet may need your expertise in the coming weeks , it's been to long since I even drive a flat four , serious dts goin on .

Ah sorry, i read it that you serviced it 3 mnths ago..
Give her a service, oil and plugs, drain out the petrol and give her some new tasty juice.
Have a look around the tyres, actually in the thread grooves and you will probably have cracks in them unfortunetly.
May get a new healthy Battery, about 80 quid.
And on start up you need to prime her with oil, before she is let fire up.
Depending on whether it inside or not, the brake disks could be badly rusted or worse seized. Have a nose around for signs of rats aswell... cars are lovely dry homes with plenty of Soft comfy seats to live in.

Im in Wexford area myself, and if you are a bit iffy i can have a look for you or be there with you when you fire her up, just got my own car back going after near 3 yrs so its not unknown territory :)

I knew it would only be a matter of time before youd be back mate , :multijump:

be good to see the car back on the road , if you need anything gimme a bell , only ten minutes from u sure :subaru:

Thats great news about getting your Subaru back on the road.

Had my own parked up for a year. Take Ken C advice and take it handy for a couple

of drives, check all the usual spots underneath so no rust has set in.
