Getting asked for insurance

Lads, just reading one of the other threads and was wondering what is the story about the displaying of your insurance to the garda if you are pulled over. If you have it in the car with you are they allowed to "not look at it" right then. They are just being asses making you go to the cop shop in my opinion.

ye just had the same prob, they tell you to display your tax disk, then tell you its not worth any thing and they want to see the full page, oh and i got asked for my full nct report, if only they were as good at cathin thievs and pikies, as pullin people over in nice cars
