Had my new engine mapped by Simon (JGM) last friday

It's EJ22 (ex JPs 2.25 build)
and still on standard VF28 it pushed approximately 342 bhp and about the same amount of lbs of torque.

I am really happy and wow, she's pulling now :subaru:

Was worth waiting almost 9 months without her running! :)

Good figure about average for VF28. Torque figure higher of about the same ?

well as far as I know VF28 is usually ending at 330 bhp.. not sure about the torque figure waiting for email from Simon..

It's worth to mention its still with a cat fitted in the middle section at the moment

Ah the 2.25L is a good all rounder.

With the VF28 im sure its very very snappy.

How was engine? Nice and quiet and behaving itself i hope?

It's spooling very early yeah! harvey's ported headers help it a bit as well I'd say.

The engine is VERY quiet! Simon was really happy about it.. no knocking, anything! It has a good potential.

Yeah so yours is above average, Nice :subaru:

With the same torque would be very nice to drive , very quick down a back road

Yeah she's really quick indeed!

I'm going to set her up on Simtek next, which is going to be sent for the alkatek updates first.. but I'm trying to find a reason to chase more hp at the moment...! :ponder2:

342bhp in a classic makes sense.. as a good, fast road car.. and it's really easy to upset the rest of the setup like brakes, suspension etc by adding more power.

Simon recommended a VF34 as a good choice. I'm rather into a nice spool and early power rather than a big figure at high RPM.

I wouldn't like to kill my 5speed box as well

may influence earlier spool with sake of mid and top end
Does anyone never wonder why never have likes of RCM or Scoobyclinic or Lateral dont focus on them.
Or in fact anyone in U.S. like cobb, perrin etc..or does anyone anywhere else in the world??????

Well not sure if we\re talking about the same headers.. I have standard headers, with no change in diameter, only properly ported by Harvey, with his matching up-pipe.

I don't know if the others follow or not,
All I know since I installed them on my previous engine, I noticed the turbo spooling about 400 rpm quicker, which is a lot, and did the trick for me.

great to see its up and running and impressive figures. Instead of trying to get more bhp would you not just try and lighten it you will notice some difference with a little weight gone

Cat fitted in centre section? I thought classics only had downpipe cat?

Irish cars have a cat in the middle or at least some of them do
