Goodbye Spec-C, Hello S204

Petrolheads
Well as most of you know i had a MY07 Spec-C for a while.
After numerous attempts at registering it i finally gave up and sold it back to the UK.
The problem was the CO% figure was not on the original Japanese Certificate of Conformity (COC) cert. I got these documents translated and verified by the Japanese embassy. I contacted Subaru Ireland and they went to great lengths writing letters to VRT to explain that Japan do not print CO figures on their COC's.
The National Standards agency of Ireland (NSAI) were then brought in to rule on the case. They insisted i get an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) done. The IVA was to consist of 70 separate tests on such things as floor pan, fuel tank etc. This test was to cost 5000 euro and 2 of the tests cannot even be performed in Ireland. :ponder2: How can they insist on a test that can't be done in the state? :wall:

The other option was to take it back to the UK and register it there before bringing it back in. But...then it would be registered as a 2012 model and i would need to pay 25,000 euro in VRT. Crazy or what? :cuckoo:

I was tempted straight away when the dealer i sold it to said in passing he had a MY06 S204 as his personal car. He was slow to want to sell it,so i knew it must be a good one. When i heard it had Alcon brakes all round, a full Milltek Sports exhaust and remap by Scoobyclinic pushing 360bhp (unverified as yet) i put in a cautious bid. This he refused but we came to a deal soon after.
So 3 weeks later the dealer drove over the S204 to me and picked up the Spec-C. I am glad to say it was a weight off my mind and a car better suited to me as it is not as fidgety or harsh on the road and has lots more extras including all the creamy power 360bhp. I have got to say the acceleration is frightening so i believe the power to be correct. I will find out soon as i get a tweak map for irish fuel and tidy up the car a bit. Slow connection today so i will post up pics in the next couple of posts
