Got a date for the NCT for the Legacy for next month. My last 3 jap imports I had to go into a test center with the logbook and get them to put the car onto the system.

This has obviously changed. They dont half give you enough time to get the car fully serviced and roadworthy enough to pass the test do they!

Weird because I didnt even do anything. Never called or emailed them to book anything.

never mind the cops....its when you crash and have to claim and your insurance ask you is the car NCT....then they dont pay out.

Are you sure its no NCT,no insurance?,when i got my leggy it wasnt on their lists so i couldnt book a test, had to send log book away & all that, but my insurance company covered me the second i drove the car, bout 7 weeks in between receiving the car & testing.

All I know is any insurance company will do their best not to pay out so why should they on a car that is legally not road worthy?

Up to six points.............what the hell? :icon_mad: I thought penalty points were only for offences which could be classed as unsafe driving practices e.g-speeding, seatbelt, phone, etc!

I think driving an un road wordy car might count as an un-safe driving practice, I know its a money making racket, but once its done its done for 2 years, just get it over with and don't think about it for a while.

I was told by a traffic Garda last year, that this year they are introducing 6 point penalties for no NCT......................

Not to go to far down the legal road but you can have an NCT & still the car can be in an unroad worthy state, say car passes then a year later u've bald tyres, worn brake pads etc,

If your insurance company wont cover you then you've paid them for absolutely nothing,so thats false advertising.

I would get it done now because the dealer would of garunteed you 3 moths on the nct so anything niggly get him to do it

When the new Spanish crowd take over from NCT there's going to be even more change, and i heard they are trying to make a rule that an import must be tested within a week of landing in the country.

Yeah heard its going that direction sort of NCT it before you can VRT it,ie if its in bits no irish plates,to be honest i think thats a good thing, altho my yoke past the NCT before turning into a ball of shite!

Most insurance companies are the same, they wont ask about NCT because its in the legal assumptions they are allowed to make. They will insure ya straight away on a 3 wheeled skip but if you crash they will check all the particulars. :icon_hang:

Like if you tell them you've no penalty points, they'll say ok and insure ya, when ya crash that'll be one of the first things they check. If you've lied then no pay out for you. :hjtwofinger:

If a crash was your fault and people are claiming against you, depending on what they might have to pay out they'll have your car pulled in for a full examination, if unsafe they wont pay out. They are allowed assume that your car is in safe working order and you have told the truth to them.

They just want your money, so they don't care what you tell them but if they really want to cop out of paying they'll find something :angry1:
