You'd think they'd know what speed to take the jump at. Surely some genius would have it worked out

Disgraceful emergency response for such a big event. Sure they let the driver crawl to the barrier when he could have had a serious back/head injury. That jump should be a critical safety point and have a full fire crew right beside it just in case.
