I had i loan of a mates 06 GTI the other day and i have to say

I had a bloke try challenge me in a 06 GTI. Id only had my car a week at the time.
They are quick but i absolutly embarrased him.

But thats not a great comparison,thats the top of the range golf....the wrx,is not...it should have been compared to the STI... :dunno:

But the GTI isnt the top of the range golf.

no way its about price..that wrx is dearer than the gti. theres even an anniversary edition with 230 bhp..and theres the R32 with 260bhp and AWD.
You cant compare a STI to a GTI its almost 20k dearer!!

I had a 05 gti and my mate has a v8 jap sti. now it was ran or normal petrol so running slow but there was f all in it between us and even i was amazed . the gti is fwd and sti 4x4 but golf handles nearly as good. 350 mile to a tank and thats driving her on. i had one for a year and live in sligo and work in dublin and it done that journey at least twice a week and hitting 240 kph is no problem to it. the golf is not that far off scoobys i would have it before a standard wrx.
