Sunday Drivers
Hello to all
newbie here from Kildare, Looking to get a B4 Legacy,
I've looked at 4 so far but not 100% on any of them yet,
What should i look out for? What gives trouble i never had one.

anyone anything for sale, I've a budget around the 3K mark,
Thanks

welcome aboard  :subaru:

mynameismud(denis) is selling his mint 01 b4, check out the for sale section

Yea i see it there thanks,
do you know the car?
I've already seen 4 "Mint" cas already
I dont mind going to cork to have a look
but I want to get a good one

ya i had a look at the car not long after denis bought it a few months back,
nice clean original car, well worth a look....
denis just had some work carried out on it last week by mark murphy motors.....

Saw denis car last week and in fairness it looks mint, and money no object when it came to looking after it!! Good clean honest car!

Best of luck in the search.

thats the same as this one. http://dublin.gumtree.ie/c-Cars-and...ru-legacy-b4-rsk-nct-04-13-W0QQAdIdZ350498801

I finally found my old b4 :) and should have her back on the road next week. You will enjoy it. Dont be surprised if your dissapointed at them being quick off the mark etc, they arent an evo or impreza eater but really lovely to drive. And nicer at top end :icon_razz: and when the 2nd turbo kicks in you will smile

My advice is bring a known scooby mechanic with you (not just any mechanic) i was stung a little when i bought mine first but eventually with the help of the lads on the forum got her sorted 100%

I had problems with vac pipes being mixed up, jubilee clips loose around the intercooler, lots of boost leaks.
Also had problems with the mechanic who fitted the engine left gearbox bolts loose leading to oil leaking.

Also listen out for the normal bad knocks etc.
And do ask for a reciept for when the timing was done! Ask to see if its mapped for normal petrol.
Im sure the lads can add to what you should look out for.

Welcome along. You will do very well to find a clean b4 for 3k, if you want a really clean one 5k would be a more realistic budget. Best of look with the search

havent seen a b4 sell for 5k in a long time....4k maybe with everthing aftermarket fitted and mapped....
5k is type r money the way things are at the moment.....

Yea, its really hard to believe the price of cars now,
I haven't even seen a B4 for sale much over the 4k
mark as of yet,

I just sold a 01 320d, got less than €1800 for it,

I phoned mynameismud(denis) Today
looks like his one is gone, swapping it for a bmw
tomorrow,

Anyone know this one http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2983425
I phoned the seller and he assures me "It's very clean"
just want to be sure as I will need to take a day off work to go see it

Anyone anything else

You'll pay for what you get with any performance car. 3k will get you a reasonable 99 car,3.5k for 00-01's but again will only be reasonable, after that youre into REV D models which have new age bottom end and different turbos and look a bit better due to facelifted front. Here is the difference between REV C and REV D models
White car is my old REV C-early 2001 car, silver is my current 03 REV D model. Bear in mind the white car has a very rare and stupidly expensive aftermarket front grille. Also both cars have factory option aero kits fitted all round, many cars dont have these.

also Revision D have different wiring (loom), injectors (pink 550ccm), denso mapable ECU with great map , you can even run on regular 95 octane with no affraid for the engine (had tests done using kkl cable and ecuexplorer with 95 and e5)
Rev D have stiffer body, higher compression at 9:1 up fron 8.5:1, lightweight bonnet (like im impreza STI), dash clock is different, different throttle body and i/c setup and few more.

Very Nice Clean examples,
Thanks for the info
I here ya, but really cant spend to much more
than this, just changed the family wagon this
week so funds are tight, also have 2 classic
cars that i waste most of my money on :icon_blahblah:,

Anyway i'll see how the 1st one goes and if i loke
it ill have no problem spending more the next time

I am looking at a 01 tomorrow. he wants 2500 off me. Its my friends(a mechanic) brothers car so not up on any site yet. Car is supposedly in great condition, he stopped driving it when his kid came, hoping he would get back in it but he cant afford it now. its going to my mates garage tomorrow to be tested before i come up. i may swap as mine is a 99 or i may do nothing and give you his number. Ill let u know once the car is good. Oh the thing is its automatic but not sure if its a blitzen yet
