help/advise needed. diff problems

any advise appreciated. on saturday I noticed a noise coming from the front end of the car. the only way to describe it is as if a piece of paper was caught in the spokes of a bike. it can only be heard when car is in gear, decellerating and clutch out. :wall:
I thought it was a clutch problem, but brought it to local Subaru garage who diagnosed it as gearbox differential buggered straight away. so what im wondering is what should i do?? :dontknow: get secondhand gearbox or just replace diff with a reconditioned one?

thanks in advance

ali burrows can rebuild them not sure on price man ,or try froggy in subaru salvage 0879338625 id say he would have one second hand

cost wise second hand would be best but if you plan on holding the car for a good while a rebuild would be best at least you know what you have

Id say for piece of mind a rebuilt gearbox / diff would be the best option
however depending on price i'd say second hand could be just as good.....
Its all about just getting a good second hand unit

rebuild will be the preferred route so as i dont want to part ways with it in the foreseeable future? ive been told i can get a reconned diff for a great price from a garage i trust. wanna have it right first time. thanks for advice lads.

could be right price for diff not sure ,only thing is to fit the diff in front means stripping the box so your better off giving the box or even the whole car to a specialist cause if the diff is gone there will be damage to bearings and sychro hubs etc
