Help finding a daily driver!!

Been looking for a daily driver recently and had settled on a pre-08 5 series but after looking at muck, even the overpriced ones, I'm trying to open up the search a bit. The problem is finding something I will be happy to drive, nice looking car with a good spec. I'm now looking post 08 as even 08 cars are nearly 7 years old now, hard to believe!!! Needs to be comfortable and diesel for the mileage I'm doing.

The ones I've been looking at are listed below but other suggestions are welcome if you have any. Needs to be on the larger size of car, they are expensive here though so I was thinking of the uk, was looking on pistonheads but where else is the best place to look?

Passat CC
5 series
A6
Accord

By decent mpg you mean what? Reviews say in the region of 25, maybe 30 and that's just not good enough for what I need. I need to be looking at 45+mpg

what about mondeo titanium x 2.2 or a mazda 6 2.2 sport drove a few off the mazda 6 2.2 great car plenty off poke and very comfortable far better than a 520d IMO

Another vote for the mazda 6 2.2. Also an exec Accord 2.2 diesel. Both very nice cars.

In fairness, that's about 40mpg which is magic for a 2L turbo petrol but if I was going for something that in that hatch size, it's would be a diesel focus which would do 60+Mpg so sorry but I'm not interested

I should've actually had Mazda 6 on their, they are a nice looking car in the sport model. I was looking at mondeo's as well but they are awful boring unless they are x sport. I was all ready to buy one a while back but it had an awful smack and a terrible repair job when I saw it. None for sale in Ireland and I only saw one on pistonheads.

Passat CC is probably the best looking out of all of them but what are the engines like, are they troublesome? And by that I mean exceptionally more than any other diesel on the market?

40mpg out of 2.0 petrol very doubtfully new 1.6 hdi engine.s are Getting that Just about. In real world driving . Honda accord is what I.d. Go for but will cost 3/5k more than the rest .but go get one in the uk good ones are hard found here

Lad in sligo selling mondeo X sport the 2.0 L one. Nice spec car is mint low mileage car is on dd. 09

Myself and d queen also have 2009 honda accord diesal es gt spec, originally uk car, great spec and brillant car, gets my vote all day long, mazda 6 and skoda vrs also great cars and very reasonable

Quite a lot of Passat CC are 4 seater as well Rob unless your 08/09 plus rob, not sure if you need the 5 seats for the family, they have a cubby in the middle in the early versions

What miles you doing a week now and what's the budget
I'd buy something cool and not what everyone else has for a start

I know you said 08+ but what about a 05 530 D.

AFAIK it does about 38 MPG, its big, in good condition, comfortable and priced well.

Cheers, P.
