HELP! Hawkeye Impreza Problems below

ScoobyGirl

Sunday Drivers
Hey guys, as you all know scoobys have their itsy problems.

Problem 1: Got my brakes flushed about 4 months ago, now noticing that my break pads are clacking, metallic sound, during slow braking. They were checked again by mechanics, they havnt found anything wrong with them or callipers nor discs.
Any idea what could been wrong?

Problem 2: Going over ramps hearing a loud squeak from the front drivers side, got the inner boot changed. Mechanics said theres nothing wrong. Yet again the squeak is still there...

Note, I have been to many garages to be sure that theres nothing wrong...

Thank you for your time! [emoji171]

Number 1: If you have Brembos sometimes the pads can move in the Calipers at slow speeds , nothing to worry about.

Number 2: it sounds like you need new anti roll bar bushes or grease your own.

Not sure on #2 but for #1 as said above my brembos clack a bit on first engagement during light breaking, sounds like the pads starting to engage the discs at the start of braking

Sorry I had a look bad at your previous posts realized it?s a 1.5 you have .
I?d suggest bringing it to a specialist Subaru garage like Rsr or Larkin Automotive they know their way around them.
It could be an issue with a hub like a wheel bearing or a broken abs sensor and not the brakes at all. Hopefully you get it sorted

Sounds like pad squeal on the brakes the sqeeking could be a few different things . Anti rollbar bushings , wishbone bushings, top mount on the shocks .

Do you get the clacking from brakes when very hot or just cold. I had this on another car years ago a set of shims between pads and piston sorted it out if there supposed to be there. As for squeak I put money on a worn rubber. If its front shock rubber rock car up and down on side you think it's from see can you here it might be very faint. A good lad with a lift will be able to spot them handy enough if bushings are wore badly shouldn't cost the earth

Having a similar with mine, I am going to change the top mount this weekend all going to plan, suspect it to be the problem as looks perished. Will let you know how I get on as will have a good mooch at what I can when at that job. Bushings are good and tight and ball joints and drop links are new, so will check all else when have it out.

May not be the same issue, but might be able to point you in some direction to help.

Changed top mount and noise going over things like speed bumps, etc. seems to have stopped now.
