As title asks...... is the irish impreza turbo gt series II my 99 the same as an English rb5? Just picked one up a few weeks ago and trying to find info in them.

Looking to see what tuning can be done I know the one I have has the blue alcantara seats and prodrive short shift and wr style wing as well as 4 pot calipers up front car is original and unmodified AFAIK but has yellow injectors in it also had frint sump and rear diff guards too.

Just wondering if it can be remapped and so on or would I need a new ecu

Any info advice be greatly appreciated

Will throw up pics as soon as I get it cleaned up

They were esentially the same car & most differences were purely cosmetic.

The yellow injectors would have been standard in the GTII & it can be remapped with ecutek etc rather than having to replace ecu.

No it had the 4 pots that became standard on MY99 cars & same 218bhp

The other difference with RB5 is that the RB5 was built using an STi shell so slightly stiffer than standard uk/irish wrx.

Didn't know that bout she'll brian

Fairly sure the rb5 came with the alcon brakes?

Definitely not standard.

But like most RB5's the options list which included bilstein suspension kit, prodrive alcon brakes & WR sport performance pack was ticked by a large number of buyers so would be found on a large percentage of 2nd hand RB5's

be very surprised if there was any structural difference between the standard and sti shell. surely not viable manufacture a different shell??

Normally same basic shell then extra bracing and more and better welds to make it stiffer

Supposedly the only difference is the solid piece behind the rear seats - I'd imagine the difference in stiffness would be barely noticeable

I'm fairly sure the panel behind the back seats is removable definitely in the 2 door sti's not sure about 4 doors and the sti wagons have no panel at all.
Very suprised If there is a difference in the shell.
Only bolt on pieces I'd say?
