Hey everyone, new here and need a little help.

Was thinking of getting a Legacy gtb (older 1999 model), but after ringing my insurance they say they won't insure me on a japanese import :icon_sad:

Am I right in thinking that all Legacy gtbs would be jap imports?

Is there any way of telling if cars were jap imports?

Was also looking at Foresters then but not sure if they are imports or not, would be interested in the turbo ones.

Mark, all the gtb's and b4's were imports .You should switch insurance company's the gtb and the forester are easily insured and cheaper than an Impreza
 
Tell them you have it parked outside and your after buying it and you need it changed over

who is your insurance company ? some will completly not accept jap cars , my girlfriends mother couldnt insure a 1.3 starlet glanza a few months back and had to change company .
 
I'm with 25plus.ie as they were the cheapest I could get at the time after having a claim in Dec 2009. My renewal is in June so I think I'll be moving then with 2 years NCB, hopefully to a company that will cover japs.

The B4/GTB are one of the easiest Subaru's to insure so I'm surprised you had a problem. Usually when changing over, you just tell them the car is bought and sitting outside and they will change it for you.
 
I was with quinn (1100 fcomp) on my gtb but am now with 123.ie (500 fcomp)I'm 31 and have 5 years no claims
Try both of them and see what happens :thumbsup:

Try First Ireland, my brother got a quote of just over 1k on a SIR civic, he's 22 and the excess was only 350.

Welcome along dude. Surprised they wouldnt cover you. Definitely try 123.ie. Covered fully comp for 405 bucks!!
